At Dreamforce, organised by leading tech company salesforce I had a moment when I questioned the value of my own work.
I was surrounded by tech experts, innovators, and leaders of some of the world’s biggest companies.
On stage, they showed what they were building—technology, products, results. Everything supported by data, facts, and numbers.
And I thought, “Where does my work fit into all this?”
I teach personal development. We work with thoughts, beliefs, emotions. So much of our work happens through conversations and books.
For a moment, it felt small.
Then came Tony Robbins’ keynote—and I learned something that changed my perspective.
Marc Benioff, the founder of Salesforce, shared how he used to listen to Tony’s cassette tapes while driving to work at Oracle.
And at Tony’s Date with Destiny event, he made the firm decision to leave Oracle and start Salesforce. He said salesforce 42 billion company existed because of that decision in that tony's event .
Just imagine. At this huge technology conference, I discovered that personal development had helped shape the decision behind the company hosting it.
That doesn’t mean inspiration alone builds a business. You still need skills, ex*****on, and years of work.
But someone has to find the courage to begin.
I went there impressed by what technology could build.
I came away reminded of why my work matters: helping people make decisions—and act on them.
