WHY IS VOLLEYBALL DYING OUT IN KASHMIR?

Once, volleyball was the heartbeat of Kashmir.
Every district, every village, every ground had talent.
Champions were made here. National players were born here.
But today… silence.
Since 2024, the game has collapsed.
Only a few local matches remain — unorganized, unnoticed, unsupported.
This is the land that produced national medalists.
Players who fought, won, and proudly represented Jammu & Kashmir on the national stage.
And today?
Those same players are being forced to quit.
No jobs. No support. No future.
Some are working as SPOs with ₹5,000–₹6,000 salary —
Is this the value of a national player?
Others, who once brought medals for J&K, are leaving the game forever.
Not because they lack talent —
But because the system failed them.
In J&K, the only platform left is the police team.
Even there, players are given only SPO roles.
No proper system. No departments. No growth.
We request J&K Police:
If you cannot give big salaries, at least give a chance.
Provide diet, health support, accommodation, grounds, equipment, and coaching.
Let players compete in All India Police tournaments.
They will bring medals. They will prove their worth.
Then decide — do they deserve more?
Today’s youth is watching.
When they see national players quitting, they ask:
“Why should we even play?”
And slowly… a generation is walking away.
This is not just about players.
This is about the death of a sport.

Hear us.
Before it’s too late.

The volleyball association is conducted 33rd JK(UT) junior volleyball championship Foy boy's and girl's from 11Dec.to13 December at jammu.
Therefore all register volleyball clubs/players of District PULWAMA VOLLEYBALL ASSOCIATION are here by informed to ensure the participation of players for selection trials scheduled to be held on 03/12/2021 (2:00 pm) at sports stadium Pulwama.
Player's born on or after 01.01.2003 are eligible to participate.
All participants should submit the DOB certificate and one passport size photo copies.

Volleyball trials from Nov 23

JAMMU, Nov 19: Volleyball Association of Jammu and Kashmir shall hold open selection trials for Junior boys and girls for the 47th Junior National
Volleyball Championship to be held at Burdwan in West Bengal
from December 25 to December 30.
The trial shall take place at MA Stadium, here from November 23 to November 25 from 2 pm onwards on daily basis, a handout issued here today informed.
Players born on or after 01-01-2003 will only be eligible to appear in the selection process. Such players are hereby advised to bring original Date of Birth Certificate and photographs.
In the meantime, the Association asked all the affiliated district units and those educational institution to send those eligible players for the trials.
The selection of the probable shall be followed by the 21-day coaching camp staring from December two to December 22 at MA Stadium.
