Court restrains JKFA “office bearers” from acting on behalf of Association
Srinagar, June 25: A local court here has restrained “office bearers” of Jammu and Kashmir Football Association (JKFA) namely, Waseem Aslam (alleged chief coordinator), Bashir Ahmad Shah (alleged Hony General Secretary) and Nazir Ahmad Andrabi (alleged Chairman) of the JKFA from acting in any manner on behalf of the Association.
The court of Additional District Judge, Srinagar, Gowhar Majid Dalal while hearing an application from the plaintiff/applications which includes former office bearers of the JKFA – Fayaz Ahmad Sofi, Imtiyaz Ahmad Bhat and former captain of Indian football team, Abdul Majeed Kakroo in an order passed on June 21 directed Aslam, Shah and Andrabi from acting in any manner on behalf of the Association till next date of hearing.
Earlier, the court had on 06-07-2023 restrained Waseem Aslam from acting in any manner as chairman of the JKFA. However, on 26-07-2023, Aslam along with Shah illegally and without any right or authority constituted certain committees i.e. Election Assistance Committee, Working Committee, day-today affairs committee which are illegal as per the constitution of the JKFA, the applicants prayed.
“That the non-applicants (Aslam and Shah) wilfully and deliberately flouted the orders of this court and committed gross contempt of this court by not complying with the orders of the court. That the applicants approached this court seeking order to put in abeyance, the orders whereby the said committees were constituted and this court vide order dated 06-07-2023 was pleased to issue show cause notice to the non-applicants as to why the relief sought should not be granted,” they prayed.
“That the non-applicants few days back illegally and unathorizedly without having any authority under law have issued forms on behalf of JKFA in the capacity of Chief Coordinator and Hony General Secretary of the JKFA to the clubs of J&K. That the said act and action on the part of the non-applicants is illegal and bad in the eyes of law,” the applicants appealed.
In view of these facts and circumstances, the court of Additional District Judge, Srinagar allowed the application of the plaintiff and restrained the defendants from acting on behalf of the JKFA. The court listed the matter for hearing on June 28, 2024
The JKFA, known for its role in nurturing young talent and promoting the sport, has found itself at the center of a legal storm in the recent years that threatens its very foundation. Allegations of mismanagement and internal conflicts have surfaced in the Association, casting a shadow over its integrity.
