Here's a story that can motivate you in these trying times:
I was born and raised in a slum in Thane and never had a lot in life. After I flunked the 12th boards my family lost all hope for my future. It hit hard and I sunk into depression. I started keeping the wrong kind of company and dabbling in drugs. I would lose sense of time and sleep for days at a time. This was the time I decided to get my life together. It was a wake-up call for me.
I started working out hoping to vent out my frustration. I didnโt have a lot of money, so I joined a basic gym near my house for Rs. 500/-. My mother secretly paid for it since my father had refused to support me financially. I got clean and fit and after 3 years I started my career as a fitness trainer, unsure if I would be able to succeed on this path. I worked as a freelance trainer in a few gyms and started gaining more and more regular clients. On some occasions this didnโt sit well with the in-house trainers and I was asked to leave by some of them.
I realized training was my passion and just wanted to help anyone and everyone who needed help with their physical and emotional well-being. So, I started training one student on the footpath near Upavan lake in Thane, gradually going up to 200 students every year.
Slowly and steadily I built my career from scratch and finally, in 2018 I started my fitness centre, Mission Fitness, in Hiranandani, Thane. I aim to motivate each one of my students and push them to do better even when they think they canโt. Seeing their transformations makes me immensely happy and proud.
I kept working on myself too and went on to grab medals in many fitness competitions like the NBBUI Mr. Asia contest, 2019, district and state level powerlifting competitions, 2019, and Mr. Pune Aesthetics, 2019. My goal now is to win medals for India in the Olympics.
From training people on footpaths to training various athletes and fitness enthusiasts, my journey has been a rocky one, but I never gave up. Every obstacle was a lesson and a stepping stone towards success.
I went from living in slums and not being able to even buy eggs for my protein intake to now living in my own house, running my own business, and becoming a successful athlete. This is my lifeโs work and I take pride in it. I still need to work towards bigger things in life and will never give up on my dreams, come what may. If I could make it this far anyone can do it with a little perseverance and a lot of hard work.
