Imagine this: you're 32ks deep. You're trying to remember if you've had 3 gels or 4 + fluid carbs from an aid station.... You are currently running and your gut isn't happy. You try to count on your fingers. Everything is not fine.

That's exactly the moment this system was built for, and exactly why we brought it to Aotearoa.

Carb Math can get complicated... We solved that.

Squeeze, chew, refresh or sip, the numbers all land on a clean 30 (or 90, if you're going long). No more 49g + 57g finger-counting mid-stride. Count the 30s, stack the 200s.

4 formats. Stack it. Track it. Same maths every time. Way fewer finger-counting incidents.

Why pick a favourite texture? You don't have to. All 4 live now.

By hour 3, another gel can start to feel like a chore.

That's where C30 Fuel Bar comes in. Same carbohydrate system and logic as the C30 gel, just built to chew instead of squeeze. It's just landed in Aotearoa for the first time, live now on >> https:/www.never2.co.nz

It joins the C30 and C30+ Energy Gels, C30 Sports Drink Mix and C90 High Carb Drink Mix. One system. Add units up for the long days, drop them down for the short ones. Easy.

Rod Farvard. Maybe not a household name here in Aotearoa, but he’s one of the best in the world at going long, and worth a follow this weekend as he races the UTMB.

Top 10 finisher in 2025 and back for more, here’s the thing that connects him to every one of us. Out there, past a certain point, it stops being about fitness. It’s whether you can keep taking food on when your body’s stopped wanting it.

Doesn’t matter if it’s 170k around Mont Blanc or your first long one in Aoteroa. Same wall, same reason people fall apart.

Nobody trains for that bit. Everyone should. Your gut can be trained like anything else.

Good luck out there, Rod Farvard. We’ll be cheering! 👏

A few notes to self from up here >>

Note to self: the long days go faster with good people in front of you. Poles out, quality chat on, the legs sort themselves out.

Note to self: actually stop. Not a glance over the shoulder, a proper stop. 360 degrees of exactly why you are here.

Note to self: everyone’s got their secret weapon in their pocket for a reason. Long day, fuel right. Nobody bonks on purpose.

Note to self: local carbs are a love language. Also bring backup. The treats and the gel aren’t enemies, they’re a team.

Note to self: you are very small out here and that’s the best part. Rock, green, sky, quiet. The mountain doesn’t care about your PB. Weirdly freeing.

Note to self: fuel before you need it, not when you’re already cooked. Ask me how I know.

Note to self: sitting down is a tactic, not a weakness. 5 minutes, a gel, a look around, then up you get.

Note to self: always listen to your guide. One hand on the cable. Do not, under any circumstances, let go of the cable. That’s the whole note.

Note to self: stop and smell the roses. Berry gel, old stone everywhere, legs finally quiet. The best days end slow.

More field notes from the loop to come.

Definition of a holiday, according to Mark: fly to France, “relax,” then climb 1,380m up La Tournette above Lake Annecy because the view of Mont Blanc is apparently worth the ladders.

We’re not judging. We’re taking notes. Because whether your big day is here or over there, the fuelling doesn’t change. Count the 30s, plus sodium in the heat, back yourself, go long.

Where’s your next big one? 📍
