Verona Students Launch Soccer Cleat Collection for Children in Brazil
Collection runs November 15 – December 20 at Verona High School and the Verona Community Center
After spending eight days in Rio de Janeiro training with professional soccer academies and joining local pickup games on the beach, Matthew Grothues and Ethan Lucente returned home inspired. While the soccer culture in Brazil was vibrant, the two VHS soccer players noticed that many young players lacked proper soccer gear, especially cleats.
Grothues and Lucente have launched a soccer cleat collection drive to benefit children in need across Brazil. From November 15 through December 20, Verona soccer players are encouraged to donate their gently used soccer cleats. Donation bins are located at Verona High School and the Verona Community Center.
All collected cleats will be shipped to partner organizations in Brazil that distribute sports equipment to underserved communities. The goal is to give more children the chance to safely play and develop their skills on the field.
Join them in spreading the love of the game and giving every child the opportunity to play!
