We can't believe that the sun has almost set on another summer haarii season! As the calendar turns to August we have but a few more races before the waters of Okinawa fall silent till next spring.

But don't worry! We're not putting our paddles down just yet! Plenty of exciting opportunities await our Kadena Sh**uns in the fall and winter and we can't wait to share recaps of our 2026 summer season races!

We interrupt our regular posts about training and racing to bring you something super special!

We want to congratulate our coach, Levi Meza, for reenlisting in the United States Air Force! Not only did he choose to serve his country for six more years but opted for a dragon boat themed reenlistment ceremony! We're proud of all his accomplishments and were so thrilled that he wanted to include his team and our boats as part of this memorable day!

We spent A LOT of time training for our first summer races!

We had just over a month after the Naha Haarii to prepare for our very first race, and we took full advantage of that time!

From marina practices utilizing both of our sabanis to on-site training at the race location, the Kadena Sh**uns put in the work to get better, faster and stronger!

After each season, we recognize our paddlers with a small memento: their end of season paddle!

This small paddle is perfect for display in an office, classroom or bookshelf and is a reminder of the hard work and fun times shared by all Sh**uns during that season.

Our last two end of season paddles have been crafted by and were adored by our paddlers! Her attention to detail and quality craftsmanship make her a top choice for our team!

In mid May, we celebrated a successful Big Boat Season with a wonderful party at Torii Beach and an even more fabulous beach photo shoot!

We haven't shared a post in a while, but if you've been keeping up with our stories, you know we've been busy for the first half of summer!

From celebrations to surviving crazy weather and taking on our first summer races, we've been so focused on the moment that we've forgotten to share it all with YOU!
