⭕️🔎Find out what causes belly fat, the health risks it poses to men.⭕️
If you gain a few extra pounds, you're not alone and this doesn't seem like a concern. But adding weight - especially belly fat - can be risky.
Belly fat is a more dangerous fat than fat elsewhere:
The problem with belly fat is that it's not limited to the extra padding just under the skin (subcutaneous fat). It also includes visceral fat - located deep inside your abdomen that surrounds your internal organs.
Regardless of your overall weight, having a large amount of belly fat increases your risk of:
+ Heart disease
+ Insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes
Colorectal cancer
+ Sleep apnea
+ Early death due to all causes
+ High blood pressure
Age and genetics may contribute to belly fat gain
Your weight is mainly determined by three main factors:
+ How many calories do you consume during the day
+ How many calories you burn through daily exercise
Your age
If you overeat and exercise too little, you are more likely to gain excess weight - including belly fat.
Age also plays a role. As you age, you lose muscle mass - especially if you're not physically active.
