We play, we learn, we move forward

Match Summary: Royal Osaka Tiger vs Osaka Raiders 2-Apr-2022

Royal Osaka Tigers(ROT) opened the 2022 season with a heartbreaking 1 run loss to the Osaka Raiders. The result didn’t go our way but we will learn and come back stronger.

Osaka Raiders won the toss and chose to Bat first. The openers started off briskly with 4 boundaries in first 2 overs, but ROT new ball bowlers Sanjeev(4-20-3) and Kunwar Mahender (4-20-1) struck back with quick wickets to have Raiders 40/4 in 8 overs. Raiders then finished with 108 with Taniyama top scoring with 33 and ROT bowlers Arun 28/2, Devan 22/1 and Sunny 4/2 picking up the remaining wickets. ROT had a slow start to the innings and barring Kunwar Mahender (50) no batsman could enter double digit score. With 3 runs needed off the last 3 balls ROT lost 3 Run Out wickets on each ball and lost the match by 1 run. The match was a nailbiter and the result could have gone either way. We are sure our team will learn from playing in such tense situations and come back stronger.

And here we go again
After a long winter break, Royal Osaka Tigers are all set to start the 2022 season with a bang. We are holding our first fitness and practice session at KCF on the morning of March 21st, followed by a practice match with the Kobe Hawks (Kansai Japan Cup Champion of 2021) in the afternoon. Alongside the old guns, we are excited to see new talent and look forward to a successful year ahead. All team members and new players are welcome to join the practice session and have a great time. If there is a new comrade who wants to join the Royal Osaka Tigers, please feel free to contact us via Messenger.
The schedule for the Japan Cup 2022 has also been announced and we are playing the first league match on April 2 against Osaka Raiders (of which there are six Japan National Players). And this match is going to be very exciting.

Umpire training course update:

Last Saturday Kansai teams had a great umpiring session, all thanks to ICC umpire Chris Thurgate and JCA community manager Dhugal Bedingfield.
JCA level 2 training was very important to maintain high standards of Kansai cricket and minimize umpiring errors during the game.
All teams representative participants were very vocal and shown huge interest by asking minute details and subsequently details were explained very well by ICC representatives.
ROT Thank JCA for providing this wonderful opportunity to raise the level of cricket in Kansai.
Sharing some glimpse from the day…

Royal Osaka Tiger invites you all to the semifinal clash of the Kansai Division-1 against 2019 Champion team Osaka Lions on 18/9 at Kaizuka Cricket Ground. Royal Osaka Tigers have qualified for the semi final for the second year running and are up against a formidable team. Let's hope both the teams play good cricket and may the best team win and qualify for the Finals. In case of rain on 18th there is a spare day planned by the KCA.ROT would like to thank KCA for the wonderful organization of the Japan Cup in this turbulent year. ROT is also grateful to AUTOLOGISTICS for its continued support and motivation.

Beef up for the semis!!! 😁😁😁
Save the date 18th September (13:00 onwards)
See you all.

Miracles do happen…

ROT's new-ball bowlers (Kunwar Mahender and Sanjeev Kumar) watched their batters collapse, then crafted a Twenty20 spell of astounding quality to slam the opponents Kobe Tigers into a wall, claiming combined figures of 8 wickets for 19 runs as ROT defended a mere 69 and made to the semi-finals of Japan Cup Kansai Division-1.

In a must-win game for both sides ROT captain, Deven Kale won the toss on a tricky and slightly wet surface and elected to bat first. But some unlucky dismissals and disciplined bowling by the opposition team hauled the ROT batting. ROT only managed 69 runs in 14 overs on a surface that was offering both seam and swing throughout the innings.

With their back against the walls and defending the lowest score in the tournament ROT pacers came out all cylinders firing. Both Left-arm pacers hit their lengths from ball one and soon had the opposition in trouble with their pace and swing. Kunwar Mahender finished with 4-8-4 and Sanjeev Kumar had 4-11-4. Satyabadi picked up a wicket in his first. of left-arm fast bowling at both the ends and the opposition batters had no answer to the quality of bowling. Last wicket partnership of 29 runs added some hope of revival of a fightback, but an excellent outfield diving catch by Kunwar Mahender off the bowling of off-spinner Ritesh had the Opposition all out for 49 runs and handed ROT a 20-run victory.

A team is known for the fighting spirit it shows in the field and this performance was a total team effort by the ROT players in the field.

Always remember “In life and sports there is no such thing as impossible; it ’s always possible”

Brief Scorecard

ROT 69 (13.5) Sanjeev 12, Brijesh Sharma 16/4

Kobe Tigers 49 (16.5) Md Romzan 18, Kunwar Mahender 8/4, Sanjeev 11/4

ROT won by 20 runs

PLAYER OF THE MATCH- Kunwar Mahender

We co ordinally invite you to the match between ROYAL OSAKA TIGERS and KOBE HAWKS on 1st August 2021 at KAIZUKA CRICKET FIELD(KCF).
As these two teams are Runner ups and Champions of Kansai Cup 2020, Since then there hadn’t been an official meet between these top teams but then Kansai Cup 2021 is back with a bang and Teams are fighting for top spot in the league and no team have qualified for semis so far!
So the clash between these two teams would be promisingly interesting as both teams will be looking for a win ROT being lost in the finals they have that lost essence and would definitely going to give a good fight and HAWKS yet to score points in 2021 looking for a win. This will be a feast to the Cricket fans in Kansai which would be a close battle.
Coming to the performance of ROT in 2021 we have started with a loss with a small margin but then ROT know how important and desperately they need the Champions title this year and came back with a positive attitude and won two matches in a row and looking to continue the winning streak.
The ultimate goal for 2021 is to become the champions of Kansai Cup 2021 and to qualify for National finals that takes place in Tokyo and show the potential we have got.
Also ROT has a plans of establishing an academy in the near or distant future and promoting Cricket in Kansai region by forming an young team.
All these things wouldn’t happen without the support so we had to thank our Sponsors AUTOLOGISTICS JAPAN not only financially they had supported us morally too which helped us to achieve the success. We hope for their continuous support.
We specially like to thanks to our financial and moral supporters and also great Ex.cricketer
Mr. Vinod K Malkani, New World Company ltd.
Without them we wouldn’t have achieved to this extent.
We also appreciate the hard work doing by JCA, KCA and Kaizuka for their motive to continuously improve and produce a quality cricket in Japan with the resources they have.

On a cloudy day ROT team were invited by Kyoto Legends team to place a practice match in Ono, Hyogo.

In absence of Captain, Vice captain, wicket-keeper, both Openers and leading run scorer for ROT in Japan cup, ROT agreed to play a practice match with 6 non ROT players on the day.

On a very short ground and a wet pitch, mat was not fit enough for the ball to bounce and lack of pace after an impact, the conditions were poor on a note.

Kyoto legends won the toss and elected to bat.

1st innings:
Kyoto legends started off the mark with a boundary for an inexperienced lineup of ROT bowlers,
both openers were good enough and played fearlessly with the bat.
They have produced some class cricket shots on the field which was a treat to watch and any new bowlers couldn't withstand their opening pair
that have added a record partnership of 226 runs in just 15 overs and took away the game
but then the veteran Kunwar Mahender had started his 1st bowl with a bowled to send back the opener in form,
and in the last 5 overs ROT gave away 41 runs which was a 269-3 at the end of the innings
which was a huge target and looked like impossible to chase the target of 270.

2nd innings:
Having a huge target ahead of ROT batsmen with 13.5 runs required per over and an
inexperienced batting lineup both veterans Kunwar Mahender and Sunny Singh decided to
open an innings with the bat and started steadily, knowing the required run rate
both openers showed the experience they had and proved why they are called as veterans,
without throwing away the wicket the duo produced some great cricketing shots with ball
flying on the top of the fielders out of the park, infact new ball had to be introduced
when Kunwar Mahender had hit a huge six where the ball was invisible after it got into downhill.
This duo had made scoreboard run with 85 for no loss in just 5 overs Kunwar Mahender(49*)
in just 15 balls and Sunny Singh (25*)16, the treat was just came to an end due to an interruption
of rain which made further play not possible and resulted ROT win by a huge margin of 45 runs
by DL method.

Special thanks to Kunwar Mahender, Rahul Kumar and Sunny Bandara for organizing match.

Last but not the least a special thanks to AUTOLOGISTICS JAPAN LTD. for having a faith in us
and for the continuous support.

Royal Osaka Tigers vs Osaka Lions
Japan Cup Kansai T-20
Date: 3rd July
Time: 13:00 start

Result: Royal Osaka Tigers beat Osaka Lions by 7 runs

With an unpredictable weather changed drastically, out of nowhere the hot sun is out with a huge amount of humid climatic conditions, the crucial match had been played between the two well balanced teams. With a loss and a win in one game each table toppers ROT wanted a win against strong lineup of Osaka Lions who were yet to register a win in the league, Osaka Lions have won the toss and chosen to bowl first.

1st innings:
Captain Devendra D Kale had opened the innings with left hand opener Ritesh Bahekar and started the innings slow and steady with both the openers registering a boundary each looked like they were set before Ritesh(7) edged the ball which ended in the hands of a wicket keeper in the 4th over of the innings, then there comes the veteran Kunwar Mahender(4) to the crease and opened an innings with a boundary and looked promising to score a big runs before an unexpected shot that contacts the bottom of the bat and ended in the hands of a fielder at Mid-on. A big silence at the ROT dug out but then the other veteran Devender singh joined the captain to control the damage and get back the innings on track this duo looked promising and added a partnership of 41 runs looked ROT were on the track again but unfortunately Captain Deven(30) had been run out due to the lack of coordination in a hurry while running for the double. At this stage ROT were 72-3 after 13 overs, Sanjeev vice captain had joined to accelerate the scoreboard with Devender singh and damaged the decent bowling line up of Lions in the 14th over by hitting a 3 sixes by both. But Lions bounced back and damaged the control with a disciplined bowling and sent back Devender singh(36) at 17th over, with Pruthvi Chowdary(15*) and Sanjeev(31*) yielded 40 runs in the last four overs had set a target of 143 runs before Lions.

2nd innings:
Lions having a strong batting lineup opened the innings with Sanath(1) and Bandula(4*), where as Sanjeev opened the bowling for ROT as usual. He had bowled the opener in the very 5th ball of the innings with a in-swinging full toss delivery and there comes their experienced batsman Chanaka and hit a six for Pruthvi in the very 2nd ball of the over but Pruthvi bounced back stronger by taking the wicket of Chanaka(9) in the same over and a huge damage had been done by ROT bowlers in the 1st 2 overs of the innings, Lions captain Miyuru had come to the crease after an injury for another batsman of the Lions, veteran Kunwar Mahender who failed to score big did not disappoint with the ball sending back Miyuru(8) with a beautiful yorker in the 5th over of the innings. After the powerplay Lions were 35-3 in a critical state but then Chamara and Silva slowly started to control the damage and scored the runs at regular intervals before Chamara(18) caught leg before to ROT leg-spinner Sunny Singh. Dillen then comes to save the innings and scoring boundaries at regular intervals it was still possible to take away the match from ROT but Sharabh Attray the new member of ROT were very disciplined in bowling had bagged two wickets and controlled the innings towards the end, Silva (19) was caught at the deep covers by Laxmi. Alex(14) and Dillen(42) both were run out on 19th and 20th over had fought till the last over but fell short of 8 runs and Lions had been run out of wickets.

Man of the match : Sanjeev Kumar.
With the bat : 31*(24).
With the ball : (4-0-23-1)

A very big thanks to the scorer come Manager Rahul kumar of ROT who helped the team on and off the field to achieve wins and success.

Royal Osaka Tigers vs Keihan Blaze
Japan Cup Kansai T-20
Date: 26th June
Time: 13:00 start
Toss: Royal Osaka Tigers wins the toss and elected to bat first
Result: Royal Osaka Tigers beat Keihan Blaze by 60 runs

On a cloudy day against the odds Royal Osaka Tigers captain Devendra D Kale wins the toss and elected to bat against strong bowling lineup of Keihan.
It was a shaky start as ROT opener Adhikari Laxman fell cheaply in 2nd over. After that Veteran Kunwar Mahender joined Ritesh Bahekar who calmly took his time and started building his innings. Kunwar Mahender showed why he in the list of top batters in Kansai with 3 consecutive sixes against Yamamoto of Keihan. Both Ritesh (20 runs) and Kunwar (20 runs) fell in consecutive overs after having 39 runs important partnership. With 90 runs in 10 overs ROT was feeling to get 200 on board but again pacy Uebayashi came and claim Deven (12runs) and Lucky (10 runs) wickets in same over. Just when team needed, another veteran Sonu showed his class and contributed 30 runs with 2 sixes and 2 fours. With the help of Pruthvi Chowdary (9 runs) and Sunny Singh (11 runs) ROT was able to reach 163.

Keihan had a bad start with S***a getting bowled on the very first ball of the innings curtesy inswinging good length ball by Sanjeev. In second over of the innings Pruthvi took first wicket of his career at KCF With a sharp bouncer to Yamamoto which he couldn’t handled and ended up chopping to Gully. Keihan’s innings didn’t handle the swing and pace of ROT bowlers and bundled on 103 giving easy 60 runs victory to ROT.
Man of the Match: Sanjeev (4-1-17-3)

Photos from Royal Osaka Tigers Cricket Club's post 09/04/2021

Osaka Raiders held their nerve in a low-scoring encounter and beat Royal Osaka Tigers (ROT) by 9 runs in the Opening Match of Kansai Cup 2021 at the Kaizuka International Cricket Stadium on Saturday, 3-April.
Needing 127 runs to win, ROT were rocked early when Young debutant Ritesh got out for 8. Best fielder of 2020 season and dashing batsman Sandeep than started with a four on his first ball. ROT captain Devan and Sandeep took team to end of powerplay with score 31/1. Devan (15) and Sandeep (19) both holed out after that. Raiders were excellent in field with tight lines and athletic fielding. That kept the pressure on ROT and none of the batsman were able to score big. Sunny (11), Kunwar Mahender (11), Sanjeev (11) got starts but couldn’t capitalize. ROT was in the chase with 36 from last 4 overs, but star Japanese National pacer Wakita stuck twice and put ROT on backfoot. Pruthvi (12*) promised to finish the match for ROT but lack of strike in the last over ultimately cost ROT the match.
Earlier, ROT, which had many fresh faces from last year campaign, elected to bowl against Raiders, who had 4-5 Japanese National Men’s team players.
Last year top wicket taker Kunwar Mahender was exceptional with the new ball and struck twice in the powerplay. Highlight of the powerplay was the big inswinger from Sameer that bowled S Wada. Vice-Captain Sanjeev also bowled tight lines but was unlucky as the ball either kept dropping short or being just over the catching fielders. Left Arm Orthodox Satya got introduced in the attack after powerplay and stuck immediately. Raiders were completely at sea against the wily left arm spin and Satya broke the back of the Raiders middle order claiming 4/34 in his 4 overs. Right arm leg spinner Sunny than finished the lower batting half of Raiders and finished with 4/22. ROT bowlers were exceptional with the ball with only blemish being the extras (21 Wides).
This was a nail biter of a match and ROT learned quite a lot from this. We promise to take the learnings from this match and put up a better performance going ahead.
Brief Scores: Osaka Raiders 127/10 (K Kotani 21, A Kuriyabashi 17; Kunwar Mahender 2/13, Satyabadi B 4/35, Sunny 4/22) beat Royal Osaka Tigers 118 (Sandeep Krishnan 19, M Pruthviraj 12*; K Wakita 3/19, J Yamash*ta 3/31) by 9 runs

Let’s enjoy new season 2021.....

We are happy to announce that ROYAL OSAKA TIGERS (ROT) team is sponsored by the company Autologistics Japan for the season 2021. We are so proud for the successful debut season in the Kansai region, and we are also greatful to be recognised and sponsored “YATRA PRATIBHA AVSARA PRAPNOTIHI” (where talent meets opportunity) and we are going to use the opportunity to seal the title and we would also say that we are the favorites among title contenders for 2021.
Before the season header on 3rd of April we had a team uniform unveiling session where ROT team jersey for season 2021 is unveiled by Shri. Balasubramanian SHYAM, Consul general of India and Mr. Gurmit Singh, CEO of Autologistics Japan. We thank you for you precious time and moral support for our team. We are also proud to have such a kind of gesture and we are also looking forward for the same love and support for the season. To have such a strong, productive relationship is a great source of reassurance.

ROT winning streak continues

After a back to back wins , ROT carried their legacy with a positive attitude to take against the KOBE PANDAS in their final practice match before the season header.

KOBE PANDAS winning the toss and elected to bat first in a 30 over match. Despite a good start KP lost their opener in the third over of the match, and the next batsmen was trying to build a good partnership before they lost another opener for a good spin ball. Then here comes their main batsmen Abhinav to the crease and started in his style with very first ball for six and they had built a decent partnership despite loosing wickets at regular intervals the batsmen were contributing a decent scores which has led them to crossed 170 in 20 overs for the loss of 3 and ROT had come up with their main bowlers in the end to restrict them to 231 - 9 in 30 overs with Abhinav being the highest scorer for KP with 52(26).

ROYAL OSAKA TIGERS started their chase requiring 232 in 30 overs with a run rate of 7.7 per over , ROT had a tricky start by loosing their opener in the very 3rd over and the next batsmen in the 5th over but the left hand dashing opener Ritesh continued his form and led a strong foundation for ROT with a valuable contribution of 59 with Sunny Singh contributing 45 and at one time ROT has relieved with both batsmen chasing the target at ease before they lost Ritesh in the mid overs but then there he comes the veteran batsmen Kunwar Mahender (Mahi) who is in form this season had scored an unbeaten 71 off 36 balls with some cracking shots towards the end and KP had come back with back to back wickets at 25th over but the damage was already done and the vice captain Sanjeev(19) joined Kunwar Mahender at the final overs to take ROT to victory at 28th over with two overs to spare.

we can all agree that it was great to have ROYAL OSAKA TIGERS(ROT) back on track after a few months of winter break without cricket. They brought out the big guns, and the game sure didn’t disappoint.
KOBE HAWKS chose to bat first at the KRAC ground while ROYAL OSAKA TIGERS were aiming to restrict HAWKS for 150 on the board to be competitive to chase but were expensive at some areas resulting KOBE HAWKS to put a big target of 177 where ROT had successfully chased with an over to spare.
KOBE HAWKS innings
They got off to a very good start after both openers were rotating the strike and smashing the boundaries timely before they lost both their openers in 5th and 6th consecutive overs, then here comes the HAWKS captain Nazar to the crease and tried to settle down and accelerate the score where in process they lost another wicket in their halfway mark they were 92 for loss of 3 wickets then the next 5 overs were shared by the two senior players of HAWKS Nazar(47) and Umair(40) had done their job well, setting a solid partnership of 60+ and looked like they will set a 200+ target in front of ROT, but then the ROT decided to bring in the main bowlers Sanjeev and Abbasi so far the two fierce bowlers hadn’t bowled a single ball but then they shared the last 7 overs of their spell with Abbasi delivering unplayable balls and Sanjeev taking his first Five fer in just 3 overs of his spell, the fierce duo restricted HAWKS to 177.
They got off to a tricky start, losing first three wickets at regular intervals, despite opener Ritesh(73) the saviour for his match winning knock, no one could stand with this left hand opener and ROT were now in a precarious position at 36-3 at the end of the powerplay. There was no need to panic just yet, but there was a lot to be done. There was a relief when the two ginger dynamos has united at the crease and made to accelerate the scoreboard with 50+ partnership, The pair continued on their merry way Just as ROT were starting to relax a bit, before Abbasi(32) threw away his wicket for a good respectable ball and ROT lost 3 more wickets within next 4 overs and were at 141-8 after 17overs and required 35 from 18 balls at 12rpo. And that’s when HAWKS decided

to gift ROT a 20-run over and the courtesy was Sanjeev(28*) getting the balls in the slot and was rightly dispatched all over the ground with unbeaten 28 off just 7 balls to drive ROT a win with an over to spare.

Kansai Cup (Finals) : Royal Osaka Tigers vs Kobe Hawks

1𝑠𝑡 𝐼𝑛𝑛𝑖𝑛𝑔𝑠 - Royal Osaka - 120/10 20 Overs
2𝑛𝑑 𝐼𝑛𝑛𝑖𝑛𝑔𝑠 - Kobe Hawks- 124/7 19.2 Overs

Toss : Royal Osaka captain Kunwar Mahender (Sameer) won the toss and elected to bat.

After grand opening of Kaizuka cricket ground, match started at 12:00PM with around 200 spectators cheering for their respective teams. Royal had shaky start as they loss both their openers cheaply. Partnership was building between Deven and Sunny but due to mix up Deven lost his wicket leaving Royal Osaka in deep trouble. Then comes the young and tall lefty Sandy for rescue. Sandy and Sunny had a 50 run plus partnership with some fancy shots by Sandy. Before entering to slog overs Royal Osaka lost both the set batsman and rest of the team were not able to handle Kobe hawks fierce bowling.
Total:- 120
Sandy 42, Sunny 26
Arif Ali:- 3/14

Small targets are always very tricky to chase and this was proved in Kobe hawks chase. Kobe hawks lost their reliable opener in very first over. Royal Osaka bowled very tight and didn’t allowed Kobe to score freely. Kobe were steadily moving until spinners came. Leg break Sunny and conventional off spinner Deven chipped up 4 wicket in quick succession leaving Kobe hawks to deep trouble. Kobe then kept their mind calm and started fetching 6-7 runs with a boundary per over. Royal Osaka captain Sameer dived and caused a run out which make Kobe hawks dug out bit gloomy but Kobe hawks managed to reach the target in last over.
Score:- 124/7
Umair 24, Javed 24, Umar 22
Deven 2/18, Sunny 2/9

It was wonderful game of cricket which both teams enjoyed.
Royal Osaka participated first time in this tournament and could able to reach finals. Now all eyes on Japan cup final to be held in Tokyo next week.
Thank you for the support
Also huge thank to Kansai cricket for organizing such a wonderful event for the sport.
