Yoga & Hiking
The great thing about yoga is it offers total body conditioning, incorporating strength work, aerobic exercise, flexibility training and stretching. Like hiking, yoga brings you into the present moment and is mindfulness practice.

With increasing age the importance of maintaining a strong and flexible body for improved physical fitness while hiking in the mountains goes without saying. I don’t want to take it for granted that my body is in good condition.

It goes without saying that breathing is the most important thing we do. It keeps us alive and allows us to be in the present moment which is important during my hiking adventures.

So why do I believe yoga and hiking are a great combination?

* Yoga helps to improve your balance, which reduces your chance of getting injured while hiking
* Yoga strengthens your core muscles, which are important for your hiking endurance
* Yoga promotes strength and mobility and will enable you to move more efficiently through the mountains and expend less energy
* Yoga reduces tightness in the key areas affected by hiking (shoulders, hips, hamstrings and lower back)
* Yoga helps you feel more mentally balanced and helps you to relax which is important in challenging situations while in the mountains

For me yoga has helped me experience nature and my surrounding more fully and taught me to appreciate the very moment I am in

SEPTEMBER 23rd 9am/UK 10am Germany and 5pm in Japan/ Korea. 60 min Online Class to celebrate and honor the shift from summer to fall. In our modern world we often become disconnected from nature and rhythmic changes of the seasons. Autumn Equinox is a wonderful opportunity to (re-) ignite your practice including more gentle asanas into our physical practice. Let’s come flow together to celebrate all that we have achieved this year and reflect on how we have grown and how we continue to show up for ourselves!

Hi, I am Sina, a yoga teacher. 10 years ago I completed my first 200 hr yoga teacher training in Bangalore, India with and ever since I have studied with different teachers and explored different styles of yoga. Why did I become a yoga teacher? someone asked me recently and my reply was that I couldn’t find that one style or one teacher I 100% loved so I decided to study and learn by myself so that I could create the yoga that worked 100% for me.
I still cannot do all the postures even after 10 years of practicing almost every day and I came to the liberating realization that my students don’t care - my body doesn't care & I don’t care because I own my imperfections and have learned that fancy postures are fun and allow me to grow and feel challenged.
But I want to focus on alignment and functional movements that keep us strong and healthy. Finding balance as we connect to our bodies while we flow.
I continuously evaluate myself and look at how to improve and deepen my skills to better serve my students. That is one reason why I love to provide modifications so that all my students can practice within their own personal limitations and adapt the asanas to their needs rather than getting hurt trying to fit in.

Finding alignment on the mat has an effect on my life off the mat and helps me find alignment within myself and I want to support others in also finding their way of “fitting in” without breaking.
Thank you and for teaching me so much more in this teacher training I have just finished.
Your teacher and forever student
Sina

Viparita Karani - Legs Up the Wall

Viparita Karani can ease a range of ailments, including anxiety, headaches, and insomnia. It’s a perfect pose to help you unwind, calm down and relax before going to bed. It improves circulation (both lymphatic and venous), reduces swelling in your ankles and feet.

My personal favorite benefit is that this pose activates the relaxation response (parasympathetic nervous system) and deactivates the stress response (sympathetic nervous system)

The Bhagavad Gita says that yoga is the balance of the mind. It’s not about the poses you do or do not do. It’s not about how many times you strike a pose or fall out. It’s the quality that you are cultivating inside of yourself throughout. Establishing that unshakable inner balance! Knowing that building this skill of balance on your yoga mat will support you off your mat in your life day after day

Yoga with a pet
My dog loves to join me for yoga and often takes my moves as an invitation to play. Apparently the transitions between poses and the ones on the ground transform me into a yoga playground and areas such as my neck and face are suddenly in perfect reach for her to lick 👅
This interaction forces me to increase my muscular tension eg tightening my core even more to avoid collapsing in a fit of giggles.
I also need to improvise many times as I find myself shifting my center and using my arms or legs to move her off my mat!
It also trains my proprioception as I need to sense where she is as I don’t accidentally want to kick her.
The distraction caused by my dog causes me to focus a lot harder and challenges my patience when licked over my face in Shavasana again and again.
Eventually we both get to enjoy a nice relaxation together after the class. We lie next to each other, slow down and then there is nothing but each other’s breath and heartbeat.
I’m so very fortunate to have my furry friend join me for my yoga.
How about you? Do you have a pet that joins you during yoga?

I couldn’t have wished for another partner in this! Collette ReWild Child you have been my rock when in doubt, my balance when I was off and you have shown me how beautiful it is to connect to nature all over again!
I am so proud of us for this and so grateful for all that joined us outside their comfort zones and became a part of our tribe Women Be WILD tribe 💕✨💕

Photos from Yoga with Sina's post 16/10/2022

During the last 3 days I had the absolute pleasure of deeply connecting with 12 beautiful women who joined our Women Be Wild Retreat. All came with the goal to unplug, slow down, surrender and restore on a physical, emotional and spiritual level. We held space for each other, we lifted each other up, we shared we listened, we filled our own cup, we grew and inspired each other.
Through yoga, meditation, journaling, hiking, connecting to nature and plant based food we laughed and we cried and we all healed a little bit of ourselves ♥️

When women come together magic happens and wow was the magic beautiful ✨✨✨

September 23rd marks the first day of Autumn. A transition from summer to fall which I see as natures reminder to slow down.
A time to reflect, to embrace change and an invitation to find balance.
A perfect time to reflect on intentions and to contemplate and go inwards ✨

Why not break the pattern today?

Love has many different forms… this is one way my cat shows me hers! 9 out of 10 times when I plan for my yoga classes it’s almost as if she feels the change of energy I am in and she comes, cuddles, purrs, gives and takes and then finds her own way again! How are you making sure you share and receive love?? Would love to know …

Modern life takes a toll on our physical and mental wellbeing. Although we try to take our breaks and vacations we still come back tired, mentally foggy, and lagging. Why is that? Truth be told the best medicine is NATURE and MOVEMENT. Exploring nature improves your brain function and reduces stress, anxiety. Yoga increases vitality, body awareness, cardio and circulatory health and generates an overall feeling of balance and calm.

My dear friend is looking for a volunteer!
I’ve been to her little pocket of peace and beauty nestled in the forest by Hayama.
Do you think you can be a great role model for the future generation?
Are you looking to get your hands dirty, to breathe deep fresh replenishing breaths and to unplug away from the hustle and bustle of city life please come forward and contact Collette or myself!

REWILD CHILD IS LOOKING FOR A VOLUNTEER!!!!
https://www.facebook.com/ReWild-Child-106673441677382
I'm looking for occasional volunteers to help me out during some of my weekday forest sessions at the Forest.
This is a voluntary role, so unpaid, although I'd be willing to cover travel (or offer travel with me).
Its a great chance for anyone who loves being in nature to come and spend a morning in the forest, observe the wonder of kids roaming free, enjoy the company of lovely others and soak in the beauty of the forest space.
I'm looking for individuals who really love and embrace nature, understand the concept of forest school and/or appreciate the importance of outdoor nature based unstructured play. A willingness to get a bit dirty and engage with children as they explore the nature around them.
If you are interested, please PM me. Duties are light and can be discussed.

Sun and Moon Yoga Tokyo 04/09/2022

My dear fellow yogis,

its been a litte quiet around here but I am back from my summer in Europe and I am recharged and excited for what the next weeks and months have in stall for me!

I am going to start with asking for your help!
My teacher, mentor and friend EmYoga is facing what is probably her hardest challenge in life right now and had to leave Japan (her home for over 20 years), her husband and her cats very suddenly to go back to the UK where she is receiving medical treatment.
Em has been a part of my yoga journey and has been a source of infinite support and inspiration for me over the last 6 years. She always puts the needs of others first and speaks up for the voiceless and passionately steps up and takes action for her beloved and endangered dolphins and rescued animals.

No one can replace her but a few teachers have come forward to sub her yoga classes at Sun and Moon Yoga https://www.sunandmoon.jp which is where Em has been teaching and building and nurturing her community. I will be subbing her Vinyasa Flow class (in person and online) on Wednesday evening 7.30-9pm (Japan time) and would be thrilled to see some familiar faces. It will be around lunch time for all of the yogis in Europe. Please check their website for more details.

Until the day Em will be back in Japan, she needs your help. Please donate whatever you are able to. Em faces large bills for her treatment, most of which she will have to find the funds for herself. All funds raised will go directly to Em’s medical expenses and to helping her afford necessities whilst undergoing treatment.

Thank you for your support however big or small it is. Em would do it for you 💜✨

I’ve read the book „The Universe has your back” from a few years ago and this sentence stood out for me.
I am very good at avoiding confrontation and discomfort and I need harmony within my immediate support people.
Sometimes my emotions are too big, too scary and so damn unpredictable, so that I have developed strategies to avoid having to sit with my emotions and to ride the waves allowing them to pass through me.
Today reminded myself of what I preach 😉
Some of you may know that my daughter is going to start University in a few days and I will return to Japan and leave her behind. And although my clever, protective and rational mind tells me she is ready and all will be ok my emotions are on a roller coaster ride. I know this this too will pass and I will continue to practice with the tools I have and continue on my journey 💚
But I remembered that it is important to create the time to allow myself to be vulnerable and emotionally drained when I am dealing with those difficulties emotions. Thank you for my people who have my back these days 😇

Keep calm and adjust to what is.
I am usually super motivated, energetic and can do whatever I put my mind to.
The last few days I feel fatigued and less productive. Yin Yoga is my go to for those days I want to move but keep it simple and slow.
I am accepting that I can’t always fly high, I also need to rest and give myself permission to be.
It’s a journey as everything in life is too and I am getting better at recognizing my needs, slowing down and adjusting my yoga practice.
Some days breathing, being and feeling alive is enough 💕

I know who I am
I like who I am
I love what I do
I accept my body
I am enough
I am unaffected by the judgements of others
I am ok with the ups and downs and the pace I learn
I am on my way to become the best version of myself

Yoga on the Bluff

This is a dream of mine coming true. While living a long time of my life as a competitive athlete I encountered many different injuries. Which is why I looked for an alternative.

When I first practiced yoga in 2003 it didn’t click with me right away but I stayed curious about it and came back to it many times becoming more and more interested in the question “Why do I feel good after practicing yoga”?

Moving to India in 2012 allowed me to turn my passion into my profession. I attained my 200hr Yoga Teacher Certificate. For 4 years I practiced with may different teachers and tried many different styles and I never felt that any one of my teachers or one specific style could fully satisfy my needs. I picked up all the things I loved about the different teachers and styles and decided to start my own teaching putting them all together.
