Jacob Kiplimo reclaims half marathon world record. 🇺🇬

Jacob Kiplimo clocked 57:20 to win the Lisbon half marathon on Sunday March 8.

After his 56:52 performance in Barcelona in February 2025 was not get ratified because he was too close to the lead vehicle, he claims back the world record (pending ratification). His 57:20 run is 10 seconds quicker than the mark of 57:30 set by Yomif Kejelcha at the 2024 Valencia half marathon

Tshepiso Masalela broke the 1500m meeting record at the Copernicus Cup 2026 with a time of 3:32.55 but was later disqualified.

The win and meeting record were automatically awarded to France’s Azeddine Habz, who clocked 3:32.56.

Masalela’s time would have been the third-fastest in the world this year and a Botswana national record.

Unfortunate.

Lilian Kasait made a stunning marathon debut, clocking 2:19:33 to secure victory at the 2026 Daegu Marathon and go sub-2:20 in her first attempt over the distance.

Meseret Belete finished second in 2:19:52, while Evaline Chirchir completed the podium in third place with 2:20:42.
