West Pokot's 13-year-old tycoon-in-training isn't waiting for permission. He's out there grinding while others debate.

The young man is actually proof that the script gets rewritten by whoever grabs the bag first.

He grew up in the harsh pastoralist settlements of West Pokot County — no wealth, no connections, no safety net beyond family livestock, in a place plagued by unreliable rains, banditry, and thin government services. He wasn’t born into privilege. For many his age, primary school was the expected path. For him, it was a dead end.

He looked at the classroom, called it a time-wasting scam that taught nothing about survival or money, and simply walked away. No long speeches. Just action. He sold his inheritance — around 50 goats, pulling in roughly KSh 150,000, possibly some cows too. In these communities, livestock is everything: bank, status, future. Liquidating it at 13 was a cold, high-risk bet on himself.

With that capital, he built his base: a diesel posho mill for grinding maize into flour, a general retail shop (duka) stocked with fast-moving essentials, and expansions that followed — a barbershop (kinyozi), a water business, and a basic hotel (a roadside eatery/lodging serving locals, herders, and travelers with meals, tea, and cheap beds). He runs and fronts the operations himself — milling, stocking, serving, negotiating, and expanding. Clips show him shirtless on the machinery and hustling in the shop, moving like someone who already smells profit.

What shocked people wasn’t just the businesses at his age but how unapologetic he was. In viral videos, he declared, “Mimi nimekataa shule. Sitaki shule.” School wastes time with useless theory while stomachs stay empty. He’s calculating margins, not memorizing irrelevant facts. Peers learn about insects; he learns cash flow.
