It’s been an amazing two years ride with a team that will always have a special place in my heart.

After two years of great success, my tenure as Communications and Marketing Director of Mathare United Football Club has come to an end.

I am happy with what we’ve been able to achieve over the last two years including landmark sponsorship deals with international gaming firm 1XBET and Kingdom Bank.

I leave you better than I found you and I’m confident that we have built teams (both men & women) that can comfortably finish in top 4 in their respective top tier leagues this season.

Wish you all the best in 2026/2027 season and beyond.

Once a Slum Boy, always a Slum Boy 💛💚

Elated to be featured by my Alma Mater, Strathmore University, who have summarized my journey from a young reporter at Soka25east & Futaa to sports administration in one amazing article.

A story of 2 jerseys, 20 years apart!

The old one (on the right) gave me the nickname Petit while playing in the dusty fields of Githurai 20 years ago and the new one (on the left) confirms the nickname still stands 20 years later in a different role in the sports industry.

Honoured to have successfully completed the Executive Program in Commercial Direction and Sports Sponsorship Strategies at the FC Barcelona Graduate School (Barça Innovation Hub).

It’s a course that tested me to the core and offered invaluable knowledge on the commercialization of modern sports. As I continue my sports administration journey, I’m optimistic of making significant contributions to the industry at the intersection of the sporting, communication/media and sponsorship objectives to increase the commercial viability of sports back home.

Step by step, we keep dreaming and continue building because Kenyan and African athletes truly deserve a better-funded and functioning sports industry to effectively compete on the global stage.

Enjoyed an amazing afternoon reuniting with fellow sports scholarship beneficiaries from Strathmore University during the Strathmore Sports Alumni event held last week.

The four years I spent at Strathmore as a student athlete in the volleyball team, Strathmore Jaguars, shaped me to become who I am today. It was great seeing my former teammates after a long time and to learn that they were excelling in various professional fields beyond sports.

We all agreed to make positive contributions to the sports scholarship programme to ensure Strathmore University continues churning out brilliant athletes both on and off the fields.

Mariam Metwally proudly wears three things whenever she is on the volleyball court–her trademark wide smile, a black hijab and unrivalled confidence that have always made her a joy to watch.

After dominating the African volleyball scene in the red stripes of Al Ahly and the white colours of Zamalek for a decade, Metwally added another feather to her cap when she joined Italian club UYBA Volley Busto Arsizio at the beginning of the 2025/2026 season. The historic move saw Metwally become the first African and Arab player to feature in the Italian topflight league—the Lega Volley Femminile A1.
