Rising from the volcanic landscape at the southern end of Lake Turkana, Nabiyotum Crater is a striking geological feature shaped by the region’s long history of volcanism and tectonic activity within the East African Rift System.

Warden In-Charge, Sibiloi National Park, Mr. Shariff Ahmed Mohamud, and his team engaged the community at Elgade Centre to strengthen collaboration, deepen conservation awareness, and advance sustainable coexistence.

The engagement focused on the socio-economic value of wildlife conservation, compensation processes for human-wildlife conflict, the legal and public health risks of poaching and bushmeat consumption, and the far-reaching impacts of wildlife poisoning on ecosystems, livestock, and water safety.

Lasting conservation is built on informed communities, shared responsibility, and mutual benefit.

Today, the Kenya Wildlife Service family came together in a Prayer, Thanksgiving and Wellness Service under the theme "𝗔𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝗙𝗮𝗶𝘁𝗵, 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲" to celebrate the reappointment of our Director General, Prof. Erastus Kanga, to a second three-year term.

It was more than a celebration—it was a moment of gratitude for visionary leadership, unwavering commitment to conservation, and the remarkable milestones achieved together. United in faith and purpose, KWS staff renewed their commitment to safeguarding Kenya's extraordinary wildlife heritage and advancing conservation excellence for generations to come.

As Prof. Kanga begins this renewed mandate, we look ahead with confidence, inspired by a shared vision of innovation, resilience and impactful conservation.
