🌀 GYAKU TSUKI – The Power Behind the Punch 🥋👊
Reverse Punch | Shotokan Karate
"Power is nothing without precision.
Gyaku Tsuki is more than just a punch—it's a statement of timing, control, and raw spirit.
✅ What is Gyaku Tsuki?
It’s a reverse punch thrown with the rear hand while the opposite leg is forward. A signature move in Shotokan, known for speed and knockout power.
🔥 How to Execute It Properly:
1. Strong stance (Zenkutsu Dachi) for stability
2. Snap the punch with hip rotation (koshi no kaiten)
3. Pull back the opposite hand (hikite) with power
4. Aim for the center—solar plexus or chin
5. Finish with kime (focus) and zanshin (awareness)
❌ Avoid These Mistakes:
– Weak hips, weak punch
– Forgetting hikite
– Overextending the arm
– No control or focus
🎯 Pro Tip:
Your power comes from the ground up. Let the hips drive the punch—not just the arm!
