President William Ruto’s Cup, a nationwide football tournament set to take place across all counties, will be launched next week.

The competition will be organized by the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) in partnership with several government ministries.

The tournament’s initial proposed budget of about Ksh 2 billion was supposed to be downsized, although it remains unclear whether that has been done.

Harambee Starlets 3-1 The Gambia

Goals from Mwanahalima Adam, Fasila Adhiambo, and Shirleen Opisa earned Kenya a strong first-leg victory in the WAFCON qualifiers.

The Starlets are now just 90 minutes away from securing a place at the African Women’s Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

They only need to avoid defeat in Tuesday’s return leg in Senegal to qualify.

Infrastructure: Sports PS Elijah Mwangi today inspected Kasarani Stadium following the damages witnessed on the facility during the viewing of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

This iconic 55,000-seater stadium, having been refurbished and upgraded into a FIFA-Standard facility, is the heartbeat of Kenya’s sporting landscape. It is an arena that hums with wonderful memories; the most recent being of Harambee Stars’ incredible outing in the CHAN 2024. It was the venue for the finals of this continental tournament.

The inspection identified some areas in need of extra refurbishment; areas that were damaged by a section of unruly mourners during the solemn occasion of public viewing of the body of Kenya’s legendary statesman the former Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo

As government accelerates the momentum to set up modern sporting infrastructure across Kenya as way of harnessing talent and bolstering growth of sports in the country, we are collectively obligated to display sincere love and care for our sporting facilities and stadia.

This means that our love for competitive games; our passion for teams we support; our thrill while attending cultural events and our exuberance when attending musical festivals among other public events hosted in stadia should be tempered with love, restraint and patriotism aptly displayed through care, protection and safeguarding of our sport facilities and related amenities.

As a people, we must take it upon ourselves to guard, secure and protect our sports facilities from destruction, damages and vandalism.

The operations in regards to construction, upgrading and refurbishment of stadia and community grounds in Kenya are fully funded by taxpayers. By protecting public facilities, we also ensure we protect the taxpayers’ money.

This is the hallmark of patriotism and love for our country; Kenya.

The Football Kenya Federation National Division One League is set to be rebranded/renamed as the FKF Conference League.

The FKF Conference League will be organized into four (4) regional zones:

Gucha Stars have been promoted to the FKF National Super League 2025/26 season after the League and Competition Committee held their 2-0 win against Nakuru Bucks, although the match was abandoned in the 86th minute.
