journey as an egalitarian to share with the CBE community. I was delighted to do so, and my brief story went “live” with this week’s CBE newsletter, together with a few comments on why I think the work of CBE is so important. I remember well the turning point in my thinking about the status and role of women among God’s people. In the summer after my first year in seminary, I was a coleader of a youth camp. The other coleader was, like me, a male. The speaker was a male. The worship leader was a male. And, without anyone insisting that this is the way things ought to be, several males gathered that evening to pray for the (male-led) service and, especially, for the (male) speaker.

September is Su***de Prevention Awareness Month, a time to remember those we have lost to su***de, acknowledge the millions more who have experienced suicidal thoughts, and support the families and communities that have been affected by su***de. It is also a time to uplift the voices of those with lived experience and provide resources and information to help prevent su***de.
