Otieno take SG position at Amputee federation - Sports Journalist Association of Kenya (SJAK) Retired Kenya National Amputee football team captain Dalmas Otieno has been elected as the new Secretary General ( SG) of the Kenya National Amputee Football Federation.
The Kenya Amputee Football Federation (KAFF) is scheduled to hold elections on Thursday, September 26th, 2024. All necessary preparations have been made to ensure a free and fair electoral process. The current leadership has been in office since the last elections in 2014, and a change in leadership is now overdue. It is anticipated that the newly elected leadership will usher in the necessary reforms to restore Kenya's prominence within the Confederation of African Amputee Football and subsequently reinforce its dominance globally. Former Head Coach of the Kenya National Amputee Football Team, made this formal statement concerning allegations of corruption and misconduct within the Kenya Amputee Football Federation.
"Investigative journalist Andenga wa Odinga's recent exposé has revealed shocking details of corruption and misconduct that compromised Kenya's performance at the 2024 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Cairo, Egypt. The findings are a testament to the deep-seated corruption that has plagued the federation for years.
The corruption and bribery perpetuated by federation officials, specifically Secretary General Peter Oloo and Deputy Stanley Mukoyani, have had devastating consequences. My unjustified replacement as Head Coach just two weeks before the tournament, and the manipulation of team selection, are clear examples of their self-serving agenda. Furthermore, the threats and intimidation directed at individuals seeking to expose these practices are alarming.
As a result of these actions, Kenya's national team suffered its worst performance in history, finishing 11th out of 13 participating countries and missing a World Cup slot. This decline is a stark contrast to our previous ranking of 6th in Africa after the 2021 AFCON tournament in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania.
In light of these findings, I urge the Ministry of Sports and the Office of the Registrar to take swift action. A thorough investigation and prosecution of corrupt officials are imperative, as are free and fair elections to prevent the re-election of compromised individuals. It is essential that the federation is restored to its original purpose: promoting the sport and empowering athletes with disabilities.
I stand in solidarity with Andenga wa Odinga's exposé and demand accountability for those responsible. The time has come to cleanse the Kenya Amputee Football Federation of corruption."
