FATHER-SON RELATIONSHIP. (Pt 2)
Fathers need to nurture their relationship with their sons. Sometimes, issues in the father-son relationship can go unnoticed, as depicted in the image below. (Which I will explain)
For instance, in a scenario where the father lives in the city while the mother and children reside upcountry. The father only visits on weekends or at the end of the month.
When the mother has a problem with her son, she might say, "I will tell your father when he comes."
When the father returns home, he is immediately informed of the son's misbehavior. Without taking time to understand the situation, the father:
1. Demands to see the son right away (Arresting officer)
2. Confronts the son about his actions, despite not being present (Prosecutor)
3. Declares, "I will discipline you" (Judge)
4. Administers the punishment (Jailer)
After this, the father returns to the city, leaving a strained relationship with his son.
The son starts to feel like the father is an intruder whenever the father visits, as he perceives the father's presence as interference with their peaceful lives.
What we see may not be what there is.
The picture below shows water steaming from the car's radiator. That is what we see.
The truth however is that this model of a car,
1. Does not have a radiator.
2. It has the engine at the back which in other cars is the boot.
What we see in our sons may not be the truth of what is going on in their lives.
It is not easy being a man and the details of who a man is can only be told by those who have been a man for them to guide the sons.
Fathers, discipline is important, but learn how to nurture the relationship with your sons.
Do not always be the arresting officer, prosecutor, judge, and jailer. in their lives
