Machakos County Deputy Governor, Hon. Francis Mwangangi, has called on the Kenya Kwanza Government under President William Ruto to ensure peace is maintained in the country in accordance with the Constitution, instead of focusing on issues that are currently not a priority such as changing police uniforms.Mwangangi further said there is need for the government to end cases of killings and abductions that have been witnessed in the country.He said this while addressing residents at a function in Machakos County.

It is important for the national government to give the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and other independent institutions space to operate without interfering with their work.This was said by Mavoko MP and Machakos gubernatorial aspirant, Hon. Patrick Makau, who noted that many institutions in the country have been marred by corruption, which has contributed to loss of employment opportunities for qualified and experienced people, a factor that continues to drag the nation backwards.He made the call at AIC Miwani Church where he attended a Sunday service.

Every parent has a responsibility to contribute to the proper upbringing of our youth.This was said by Mua Ward MCA, Hon. Francis Ngunga, who emphasized the need for parents, especially Christians, to raise their children on Christian principles in order to have a better future generation.Ngunga was speaking when he joined Christians of ABC Church Katheka-Kai during a fundraising event for the construction of the church.He warned that if urgent action is not taken, many children will be lost to alcohol and drug abuse.

Machakos School Alumni Association (MSAA) on Saturday led the school fraternity in a 5-kilometer walk to fundraise for the construction of the School Aquatic Stadium.The historic event was organized by MSAA under its Chairman, Rtd. Justice Philip Waki, and the School Principal, Mr. Benson Manoo.Old boys, some of whom left the school in the 1960s and 70s, participated in the morning walk, following a familiar route they used during cross-country marathons in their heydays.Speaking at the event, Principal Secretary, State Department for Sports, Elijah Mwangi, said investing in sports infrastructure will create a pathway for talent development as envisioned in the new Competency-Based Education (CBC).Mr. Mwangi said there is a bright future for careers in sports, with athletes making millions within a short period of time.He added that the government is committed to supporting the Ministry of Sports to nurture talents across the country.The fundraising drive brought together alumni, students, teachers, parents, and well-wishers, all united in supporting the school's vision of becoming a hub for swimming and aquatic sports in the region.

Students have been urged to choose subjects aligned with their career dreams under the new Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) as a way of earning a living in future, especially through sports.This is according to Machakos gubernatorial aspirant, Hon. Nzioka Waita, during a funds drive to construct a swimming pool at Machakos Boys High School.Waita said the CBC system gives every learner an opportunity to nurture their talent and use it to build their future, rather than relying solely on classroom academics.

Youth leaders from the Lower Eastern region have issued a bold declaration against the growing trend of politicians paying young people to disrupt political rallies.Speaking in Machakos during a forum convened by the National Council of Churches of Kenya (NCCK), the youth vowed never to be used as agents of chaos, insisting they will not participate in hooliganism or violence at political gatherings.Instead, they challenged their peers who accept money from politicians to redirect those resources toward civic education, sensitizing citizens on the importance of elections and voting.The youth further warned that politics of insults and violence continue to lock out vulnerable groups, including persons with disabilities, women, and fellow youth, from meaningful participation in Kenya’s democratic process.They called on politicians to stop misusing the youth and instead invest in programs that empower them economically and politically.

More than 25 registered women’s groups from Kithungo/Kitundu Ward in Mbooni Constituency have received certificates and KSh 40,000 each in cash under the national government’s Women Empowerment Initiative.
The beneficiaries received the funds during an event attended by Mbooni UDA MP aspirant Hon. Kisoi Munyao. Those who accompanied him during the distribution included the Mbooni Sub-County Deputy County Commissioner (DCC), Mr. Mwiti; the Mbooni West Sub-County Social Development Officer, Mr. Joel Abuya; and other National Government Administration Officers (NGAO).
Speaking during the event, Kisoi urged residents to ignore what he termed as propaganda being spread by opposition politicians, who claim that citizens are being registered into empowerment groups as part of a scheme to help the government rig elections.
Kisoi dismissed the allegations, saying the programme is genuine and aimed at economically empowering women at the grassroots level rather than serving political interests. He urged the beneficiaries to use the funds wisely by investing in income-generating activities that can improve their livelihoods and help them fight poverty.

Farmers have been urged to plant crops that can withstand the weather conditions in the Ukambani region in order to get better yields.The call was made by the Chairman of the Agricultural Show from Machakos, Lawrence Matolo who encouraged farmers, as they expect the rains, to strive to use modern technology to get better results in their farming.Matolo said Ukambani is a semi-arid area and farmers cannot continue to depend on crops that require a lot of water, but should look for better seeds that are drought-resistant.He added that this year's agricultural show will focus on educating farmers on agribusiness and water conservation techniques.

As schools officially open for the third term, parents have called on the government to ensure learners remain in school.Parents from Machakos county say the cost of living is high and many parents may not be able to pay school fees on time, hence there is a need for teachers not to expell students over fees.The parents' call is directed especially to the national government to release *capitation* funds on time.They argue that if the funds are not released in good time, learning could be disrupted during this crucial examination term.The third term is considered the most important term for Class 8 and Form 4 candidates who are preparing for their national examinations.

There is a need for county governments to collaborate with the national government so that citizens can get development.The call was made by the MCA for Mua Ward Hon. Francis Ngunga while speaking at AIC Ikahawani Church in the Vota area and later in various parts of Mua Ward.Hon.Ngunga,in what appeared to be a criticism of Machakos Governor H.E Wavinya Ndeti said it is sad to see projects started by the previous administration being neglected.He cited as an example the borehole project drilled by TANATHI and the Vota road, whose construction has now stalled.At the same time, Ngunga urged voters to give leaders in office ample time to work, and when election time comes, to use their votes to elect suitable leaders.He called on leaders to bring development and avoid petty and hateful politics that has no benefit to the common citizen.
