South Coast Pirates South Coast Pirates RFU Club.

2023/24 KRU Championship winners🏆 The club’s ambition is to become one of the top Rugby Clubs of the future.

An Ukunda/Diani based Rugby Club called “South Coast Pirates” was formed in 2013, this project was started as the brain child of George Barbour from the early beginnings of the Diani Beach Touch Rugby 5 aside tournament in 2008. Most of the players come from underprivileged backgrounds and many of them were introduced to playing touch rugby on the beach, by George, to be able to participate in the first DBTR tournament. Over the last few years the enthusiasm has grown and these young players have been requesting a more formal approach to training to be able to play the 15 aside full contact game. Harnessing that enthusiasm, and with the help of rugby coach David Nolan, a full team materialized and joined the third division of the RFU league in 2013.

We extend our deepest condolences to the family of Strathmore Leos player Hamza and teammates during this incredibly difficult time.

Hamza’s loss is deeply felt across the rugby community. May his loved ones find strength in the memories he created and the legacy he leaves on and off the pitch.

Rest easy, champion. Gone too soon. 🕊️
