Leaving Acheampong on the bench today actually turned out to be a little blessing in disguise.

We’ve seen how important he has become at the back, and the way he’s formed a partnership with Lacroix so quickly is really impressive.

When he came on, the right side just looked calmer. It wasn’t as chaotic as it was before his introduction, and we looked much more solid defensively.

Acheampong is quietly becoming a really important player for this team.

✍️ I believe that we will evolve with time. Alonso probably believes that a mid block will keep us solid and empower the attacking players in transition in the first months.

So far, we are scoring freely but conceding a lot. But in context, apart from King's goal, I don't think we have conceded due to poor structural shape. Most of the goals have come from individual lapses and set-pieces, which can be fixed.

Right now, it's about picking up points while we continue to train and get more familiar with Alonso's game. When we settle down, we will control possession, but by then, we must have learned how to play and control games in mid and deep blocks, because we will need it in some games.

So far, so good. We keep picking up points, which is what matters at this point.
