Sail Smart Sailing Academy Introduction to Sailing Summer Program 2017
Sail Smart Sailing Academy is offering a six day summer program, open to 8th grade students and above, which will cover the fundamentals of sailing. This course does not require participants to swim and everyone will be wearing life jackets while on or near the water. A Sailboat provides the perfect “classroom” for students to
build confidence, develop leadership skills, and gain practical experience with teamwork and real-time problem solving, while exploring and enjoying the natural world. It requires the union of theoretical knowledge and physical ex*****on. If that’s not enough, sailing sets your student apart. The university admissions process is more competitive than ever; perfect grades and test scores simply are not enough. Universities rely on extracurricular activities and unique interests as a way to differentiate candidates. Sailing is an activity that makes your student standout from their peers. There are currently 197 universities in the United States with active sailing teams, many more have active, competitive sailing clubs. A few worth noting:
Harvard, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Brown, MIT, Princeton, Stanford, UC Berkeley, UCLA, U Chicago, U Penn, Wellesley,Yale
Sailing is more than just a way to improve your student's college application, it is another way for them to build a successful network wherever they may find themselves after graduation. All across the world there are active sailing communities which provides excellent networking opportunities with successful professional, business, political, and community leaders. Meet Captain Matt
Your students will be coached by Matthew Smart. He has over 7 years of experience as a US Sailing certified instructor, and holds both a United States Coast Guard 50 ton masters license, and a Korean Yacht Operator's License. Before moving to Korea, he managed one of the largest sailing schools in the United States, and has extensive experience teaching students how to sail, and instructors how to teach sailing. Additionally, he received his degree in economics from the University of Chicago and has built a successful career in international finance and capital markets over the last 10 years. Sail Smart Sailing Academy is excited to bring these skills and experience to Seoul and is excited to introduce your students to the amazing world of sailing.
