Do you often feel bad saying no to a loved one? Do you say yes to things you don’t want to do? Do you worry more about what others need than you do about yourself? Do you run yourself down trying to show up for people?
If so, the fear of selfishness may be blocking your expression of self-love.
Not knowing the difference between selfishness and self-love is a prime cause of exhaustion, anxiety, and unhappiness. Self-love is different from narcissism and egomania.
Loving yourself is not about showing off and telling everybody how good and smart you are. Loving yourself is the powerful inner feeling of happiness that comes with the comfort of feeling at peace with yourself.
There is a large gap between arrogance and self-love. Arrogance is expressed through an exaggerated sense of one's own importance. Self-love is personal and untold. It is inside you.
Self-love is not something you show. It is something you feel on a daily basis.

True love happens when we are ready for it, not because we need it. It is easy to mistake other feelings for love when we are not ready for it. Let it find you at the right time.

Valentine's Day doesn't have to be reserved for couples. Love is love whether you have a partner or are loving on yourself.
Remember to stop once in a while and tell yourself that you’ve done a great job so far. Don’t be afraid to treat yourself with love and care, stop being so hard on yourself. Loving yourself isn’t selfish. It’s not about conceit. It’s not about thinking you’re better than someone else. It is, however, a lot more than just “accepting” yourself.
Also, don’t forget to have fun. Jump on your bed, cook your favorite dish, spin around in circles, dance alone in your kitchen, focus on self-care and do stuff that makes YOU feel good, things that will put a smile on your face.
You should definitely love yourself every day, but why not take the holiday of love to celebrate how amazing you are.

It’s a natural human desire to want to please the people around us. We’re social creatures who thrive in community. But you don’t have to suppress your true nature or ignore your deepest heart’s desire in order to be loved and accepted.
To be true to yourself means to act in accordance with who you are and what you believe.
If you know and love yourself you will find it effortless to be true to yourself.
Just as you cannot love anyone else until you love yourself, you cannot be true to anyone else until you are true to yourself.
Begin by not being afraid to be who you are!
As difficult as it may seem at first, have the courage to accept yourself as you are, not as someone else thinks you should be. Do not take action or pretend to be someone else for the sake of gaining acceptance.
When you do things that are not genuine or a reflection of the real you, you will be both confused and unhappy with yourself. You willl be confused and unhappy because you won't know whom to please, or how. Self-respect comes from being true to the real you and from acting in alignment with your fundamental nature.
Your time here on earth is limited. Don’t waste it chasing approval and ignoring what you really want.

Do you like being alone? Or do you hate it?
Some people think of “being alone” as a bad thing. It either means you’re anti-social, or unwanted, neither of which are a good position to be in.
During this COVID-19 crisis, many have to stay home and are unable to meet their friends and family. Maybe being alone during this time is particularly painful. But actually, being alone isn’t’ necessarily a bad thing, as there are a handful of benefits that emerge once you learn to embrace solitude.
I’m not advocating you go all Tom Hanks in Cast Away, because no one can argue the benefits and the joy that come along with fulfilling relationships with other people.
I am saying that once you learn to enjoy being alone, you’re going to grow as a person.

Feelings of loneliness are completely normal, and can hit each of us at different times. Maybe your loneliness lingers for months or perhaps just one night. Regardless, you will find that you have the power to change your thoughts and create the reality of your dreams!
The longest relationship you'll ever have in your life is the one with yourself. So why not try to have a better relationship with yourself?
Whatever you do, don't give in to lonely feelings and the self-defeating patterns of self-pity. You can combat loneliness by doing something you love, taking positive action steps, and thinking encouraging thoughts.
