The tipper truck driver who caused a fatal road accident on the Marawila - Katuneriya main road, fled the scene, and went into hiding, was arrested within 48 hours following a meticulous investigation led by Mr. Madura Susantha, Officer-in-Charge of the Traffic Division of the Marawila Police Station, together with his team of officers.
During the investigation, it was revealed that the driver had attempted to mislead the police by diverting the tipper truck from the main road onto a side road after the accident. Police officers carefully examined approximately 80 CCTV cameras installed along both the main roads and side roads. Through their thorough and continuous investigation, they successfully traced the vehicle, which had been hidden in Vavuniya, and arrested the suspect.
