Borussia Dortmund star Serhou Guirassy became the highest-scoring African player in a single Champions League campaign on Tuesday night, but the German side still crashed out of the competition.
Dortmund were taking on Barcelona in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final at Signal Iduna Park.
They faced a tricky task from the start given the Catalan giants held a 4-0 aggregate lead from last week's first leg following a dominant performance.
But Dortmund began the game well and after squandering a couple of early chances, Niko Kovac 's side took the lead thanks to Guirassy's chipped penalty.
Guirassy, who joined Dortmund from Stuttgart for £15.4million last summer, added another strike early in the second half after he nodded home Ramy Bensebaini's header across goal from a corner.
However, disaster struck when Bensebaini, under pressure from Robert Lewandowski , turned Fermin Lopez's cutback into his own net.

Breaking News: FIFA Awards Liberia Three Points After Tunisia Violates Player Regulations and Three Penalty denied.
April 1, 2025 – The Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) has officially awarded Liberia three points and three goals following Tunisia’s violation of player eligibility rules during their recent match against the Lone Star.
In a statement released on Tuesday, FIFA confirmed that Tunisian striker Hazem al-Mastouri was ineligible to participate but was still included in the squad that played at the Samuel Kanyon Doe (SKD) Stadium on March 19, 2025.
As a result of this ruling, Liberia now tops Group H with 13 points, significantly boosting their chances of securing a historic qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
This decision marks a major turning point in Liberia’s World Cup campaign, and fans across the nation are celebrating the unexpected advantage.
