CAF selects three Liberians for women’s Champions League qualifiers

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has selected three Liberians to officiate in the 2023 women’s Champions League West African Football Union (WAFU) Zone ‘A’ qualifiers.

They include FIFA-badged assistant referee Tracy Chayee and CAF-badged instructors Isaac Montgomery (technical) and Abraham Fahnbulleh (physical).

The trio are part of 15 match officials: four instructors, five referees and six assistant referees.

A delegation of WAFU officials, including match officials, arrived at the Roberts international airport in Harbel on 4 August for the qualifiers, which run from 5-13 August.

It will feature Determine Girls of Liberia, Sierra Leone’s Mogbewmo Queens, AS Dakar Sacré Coeur of Senegal and Mali’s AS Mandé.

Per report, Determine Girls FC defender Marie Flomo has given birth to a bouncing baby boy.

Maryland Angels were declared champions in the women's regional league in Maryland County on 4 March.

They dragged Setonic FC 5-0 at the Martha Tubman Stadium in Harper.

Second-placed Roma FC drew goalless away to United Friends FC at CRC Field in Pleebo.

The league, which is being sponsored by the Liberia Football Association, is organized by the sub-association.

The quartet over the weekend graduated from the Ministry of Youth and Sports runs, the Business and Domestic Occupational Training Center (BDOTC ) with different skills.

The program was initiated by LKF President Surprise Emmanuel Whea two years ago with support from the Sports Ministry.

This brings to five the number of players that have benefited from the project which LKF President Whea says is intended to empower more women and girls through kickball.

There is a name that continues to make head wave in the Orange Upper Women's league and that is Louise Brown, the Soccer Ambassador FC midfielder who is the third top scorer in the league.

The youngster has scored 13 goals from 13 league games so far this season and has vowed that she will continue working hard to score more goals.

Brown scored a hat-trick in her side's recent 7-3 win over Hippo FC at the SKD Practice Pitch.

The Liberia female Under-17 midfielder is the best in her position in the league and her current form has been so unique as she continued to keep finding the back of the net as the highest-scoring midfielder.
