🚨 Armed Forces of Liberia Ranks 141st Globally in 2026 Global F!repower Assessment
Liberia has been ranked 141st out of 145 countries in the 2026 Global F!repower (GFP) Military Strength Ranking, placing the country 37th among the 38 African nations included in the assessment.
Liberia recorded a PowerIndex score of 3.9275. Under Global F!repower's methodology, a lower score indicates greater overall conventional military capability.
The annual assessment uses more than 60 factors, covering areas such as manpower, military equipment, financial resources, logistics, geography, airpower and naval capabilities.
According to GFP's 2026 data, Liberia has an estimated 2,100 active military personnel and no reserve personnel listed. The assessment records no military aircraft or tanks, while the country's naval inventory is listed as comprising six patrol vessels.
Within Africa, Liberia ranks 37th, ahead of only the Central African Republic among the 38 countries assessed. Sierra Leone ranks 36th and Benin 35th. Nigeria, ranked third in Africa overall, is the highest-ranked West African country in the assessment.
While Liberia's relatively low position reflects its small force size and limited conventional military hardware, the Global F!repower ranking should not be interpreted as a direct assessment of the training, discipline, professionalism or educational standards of individual members of the Armed Forces of Liberia.
Such qualitative characteristics are not independently ranked by GFP in a manner that establishes whether Liberian military personnel are better or less well trained or disciplined than their counterparts elsewhere.
Instead, the Global Firepower ranking primarily provides a comparative assessment of countries' overall conventional military capabilities using its own methodology and available or estimated data.
Global F!repower's 2026 Liberia assessment was last reviewed on January 20, 2026.
