Liberia: Addo Mills, Bethesda Mission crown champions of CAF Pan African School Football Tournament

Both Addo Mills High School and Bethesda Mission High School have been crowned champions in the Female and Male categories respectively of the CAF U-15 Pan African School Football Tournament.

The Grand Final which was held at famous Antoinette Tubman Stadium saw Addo Mills winning the female category on penalty shootout 4-2 after a goalless draw. They beat Joel High School.

Meanwhile in the male category, it was a Noah Sirleaf's day of celebration. The Victory Sports Academy starlet scored brace to help Bethesda Mission High School collect 2-0 win over Great King Academy In the maiden edition of the CAF U-15 Pan African School Football Tournament.

It can be recalled that Bethesda Mission High School qualified from the Quarterfinals stage as best loser before winning Island Community High School in the Semi 1-0 to progress to the Grand Final. They went on win to the final 2-0.

The CAF Pan African School Football is the maiden edition of CAF introduction of soccer into schools. CAF believes that having the kids playing soccer in schools around Africa will encourage more talented young players to pursue education why developing their career - football.

CAF President, Dr. Patrice Motsepe believes football has the power to change the narrative in the continent with a bottom-up approach. “The best investment we can make to ensure that African football is amongst the best in the world and self-sustaining is to invest in schools and youth football development infrastructure for boys and girls. This is one of my key focus areas as President of CAF,” said Motsepe.

This year's edition saw a little over forty schools participating in both the male and female categories in three different zones playing at ATS, TUSA Field, SKD Practice Pitch, Alligator Field, etc.

Liberia is expected to host a zonal championship in December of this year. Both Addo Mills High School and Bethesda Mission High School will represent Liberia in the CAF Pan African School Football Zonal Championship.

CAF Pan African U-15 School Football reaches Grand Final

The maiden edition of the CAF Pan African U-15 School Football has reached the Grand Final stage in both female and male categories.

Addo Mills High School who clinch their final slot with a 5-0 thrashing over Domfal High School will meet Joel High School in the female category Grand Final at 1:30 PM at ATS. Joel High School beat St. James 2-0 to reach the Final.

Meanwhile in the male category, Bethesda Mission High School who qualified as best loser from Quarterfinals stage before winning Island Community High School 1-0 to grab their Grand Final spot, will battle Great King High School who won Konuwa 1-0.

The competition which started with over 40 schools that played in three different zones, has reached the Grand Final Stage.

Great King and Bethesda Mission School reach Grand Final of the CAF Pan African School Football

Johnsonville based High School Great King and RIA Highway giants Bethesda Mission High School have booked their slot to the Grand Final of the ongoing CAF Pan African School Football in the Male Category.

Both Schools attained such great feat with a second half 1-0 win each after a goalless draw in the first half.

Elton George late in the box scramble was the difference as Great King knockout Konuwa High School in the first semi final clash.

Meanwhile, in the second semi final match, best loser Bethesda Mission surprised the spectators as they stunned Island Community High School to a 1-0 defeat to grab their Grand Final spot.

They will meet Great King on Friday, August 5, 2022 in the Male Grand Final, while in the female Grand Final, Addo Mills High School will battle Joel High School.

The Pan African School Football is an intercontinental school soccer tournament, that was introduced into schools across the continent, targeting both boys and girls, in an effort to use the lessons of football to guide growth and development and shape the future leaders.

The vision of the competition is to create a future in football for every boy and girl in Africa with a purpose of exploiting opportunities within the value of football to holistically develop African boys and girls.

The Champions from both the male and female categories will represent Liberia as they are expected host the CAF Pan African School Football Zonal Championship in December.
