Liberia Celebrates Historic Dual Referee Certification in International Handball Breakthrough
The Liberia National Handball Association (LNHA) has announced a major milestone following the international certification of two of its top technical officials, Santos N. Tarpeh and Henry Fahnbulleh, after successfully completing an elite officiating program in Lomé, Togo, in April 2026.
The achievement came during the IHF Trophy Africa Zone III training and certification course held from April 7–12, where both officials distinguished themselves through strong performances in theoretical assessments and practical match officiating. The Confederation of African Handball (CAHB) reportedly commended their “outstanding performance,” marking a significant endorsement of Liberia’s growing technical capacity in the sport.
Tarpeh, the LNHA Chief Referee with longstanding regional experience dating back to 2010, and Fahnbulleh, who rose through grassroots handball in Monrovia, now hold international certification that allows them to officiate and conduct technical training across Africa.
The LNHA says the development strengthens national officiating standards and positions Liberia as an emerging contributor to technical excellence in African handball governance.
