Today, we celebrate not only Liberia's 2-0 victory over Guinea-Bissau in the ongoing U-20 WAFU A U-20 Girls Tournament held in Guinea-Bissau but also honor two remarkable daughters of Lofa County, Makula Konneh and Makasia Saryon.

‎We proudly commend Makula Konneh, who was awarded Woman of the Match honors. Just a few years ago, she worked as an ordinary mechanic in a local garage in Voinjama, Lofa County. Her journey began when the Liberia Football Association introduced formal Women's League Football to Lofa County during the 2020-2021 season as part of its Women's Football Development program.

‎Makasia Saryon, who scored Liberia's opening goal in the tournament against Guinea-Bissau, also has an inspiring background. She was a street seller a few years ago, selling in Voinjama to support her family. Today, her dedication has propelled her to represent her country, defending not only Wologizi Lioness, or Lofa County but Liberia as a whole.

‎These two footballers played for Wologizi Lioness in the LFA Lofa Sub-Association Regional Women's League before transferring to another female football club in the nation's capital, Monrovia, to pursue their football dreams. Their success highlights their talent and determination.

‎We extend our gratitude to the Liberia Football Association and the Women's Football Department, especially Mr. Francis A. Tamba, the former Manager of the Women's Football Department, came to Lofa to officially launch the Lower Women's League in Voinjama, Lofa County.

‎Additionally, we thank Mr. John Acorolson Tamba, CEO and President of Wologizi Lioness Female Football Club, along with the entire management team, for creating opportunities that nurture young female Football players.

‎Indeed, as the saying goes, Empower Her, Inspire Greatness. Congratulations to Makula Konneh and Makasia Saryon for demonstrating discipline, resilience, and perseverance on their inspiring journeys

Good news for our young athletes (footballers) participating in the sport within Lofa and the surrounding counties.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports, in collaboration with the Liberia Football Association (LFA), has reached an agreement that players from the 1st and 2nd Divisions shall not compete in the County Meet.

Additionally, the Ministry has affirmed that the regulation requiring the inclusion of at least ten homegrown players on county teams during the County Meet will be rigorously enforced without exception.

In light of these positive developments, the LFA Lofa Sub-Association will no longer need to seek approval from the Lofa County Sports Steering Committee to include locally based players from various districts in the county teams. Moreover, the rules for the 2026 National County Sports Meet, as mutually agreed upon by both the Ministry and the LFA, are poised to significantly advance grassroots football development across the county.

The Liberia Football Association (LFA), through its Lofa County Sub-Association Disciplinary Committee, has officially suspended Mr. Sekou V. Fofana, President of Bebeto Football Club, for a period of six months following an incident of violent conduct during an official match.

‎This disciplinary measure is a result of the events that occurred on February 22, 2026, during a match between Bebeto FC and Voinjama City FC, in which Mr. Fofana was alleged to have physically assaulted the match assistant referee, Mr. Dwana Kessellie. Such behavior constitutes a direct violation of the LFA’s Rules, Chapter 4, Article 1.1.0 (a & b), which explicitly prohibit violence and misconduct against match officials.

‎According to regulations, any individual associated with a team found guilty of assaulting a match official shall face a minimum suspension of fourteen months from all recognized football activities. However, in Mr. Fofana’s case, the suspension has been reduced to six months, effective from 26 February 2026 to 26 August 2026, in consideration of his appeal and the contrition demonstrated during the disciplinary proceedings.

‎Furthermore, Mr. Fofana is mandated to pay a fine of ten thousand Liberian dollars (10,000 LRD) payable before reinstatement. During his suspension, Mr. Fofana is prohibited from participating in any football matches or competitions, accessing football fields, technical areas, or team benches, or representing Bebeto FC in any officially recognized LFA activities.

‎This decision underscores the LFA’s commitment to upholding discipline, respect, and fair play within Liberian football. The association cautions that failure to comply with the suspension conditions may result in additional disciplinary actions.

‎This decisive action reflects the LFA Lofa Sub-Association's dedication to maintaining integrity and respect for officials, thereby establishing a standard for professional conduct within the Liberian football leagues.
