Sitting beneath a waterfall is exhilarating, energising and just a little intimidating. Feeling all the power of nature cascading over you makes you feel both strong and insignificant at the same time. As a post-menopausal woman, it feels like renewal.

This 40-metre waterfall sends diamond-like spray sparkling into a deep, dark pool below.

After a delicious swim in the crystal-clear waters of this natural lake, I'm taking a moment to sit on a warm rock, listening to birdsong and the gentle lapping of the water. These quiet moments are just as memorable as the swims themselves.
