Celebrating our students success. Last May, Phoebe Farrugia Cassar successfully auditioned for the FORMACIÓN PROFESIONAL DE FLAMENCO 2026, an intensive professional training programme designed to prepare dancers for the demands of a professional career in Flamenco.
Phoebe shares her experience:
“This course is preparing me to perform in tablaos with live musicians, including guitar, palmas and singing. It is helping me develop as a more professional dancer and giving me the skills and confidence to create my own choreography.
One of the biggest things I have learnt here is that I can’t be shy in either performances or rehearsals. I have to give everything from the very beginning. The more I practise, the more confident I become.
The course has been a wonderful challenge compared with my usual training back home. Here, I am dancing and studying for eight hours a day, five days a week, so it is a very intensive experience.
Our days are divided into different areas of study, including castañuelas, técnica and baile, working on dances for both performances and examinations, followed by theory and research.
A particularly valuable part of the experience is having live musicians accompanying our classes, giving us the opportunity to develop the musicality, communication and spontaneity required of a professional Flamenco dancer.
The teachers — Victoria Ramos, Marta de Troya and Cristina Otero — are lovely and know how to work with each student at their individual level. It has been a challenging but incredibly rewarding experience.”
We are very proud to see Phoebe embracing this opportunity, developing her artistry and gaining invaluable experience in a professional Flamenco environment.
