Our Club remembers Thea Leotta with great sympathy; since she has not attended for some time, you may be asking yourselves what happened to her.
Thea settled in Sweden some time ago and she recently had the opportunity to participate in her very first badminton tournament in her new country. This was organised by Badminton Sweden and hosted by her local club, Älmhults Badminton Club.
It was a fantastic experience for her, given the high standard of the event. Thea performed quite well in the first three rounds of the Women's Singles but then bowed out in the quarter-final stage, losing in two straight sets with close scores.
Well Done, Thea. We look forward to seeing you on court again at our Club in the near future.

Our Club celebrates the achievement of its three members during the Evolve Amateur Championship 2025 organised recently by the Evolve Badminton Academy at De La Salle College.
Alida Borg and Jahan Ahmed Sumon made it to the final of the Mixed Doubles where they defeated Theo Kottwitz and Jodie Gafa’ Craus with a double score of 21/17 - 21/17.
In the Men's Doubles, Jahan and Shakeel Khan deservedly took the winners' medal after defeating Hemanth Naidu and Sabari Girish Anand in the final with the score of 21/7 - 21/11.
It was a great event for our three players who represented our Club so well.
Heartfelt and sincere CONGRATULATIONS to all three !!!

Our club member Jahan Ahmed Sumon was recently in Paris (France) to take part in the Europe-Bangladeshi badminton championship.
The event was played on the 6th July at the “Padel Horizon”, a multi-sports centre for Badminton, Squash and Padel. It featured 24 pairs of players who competed actively to win the title.
Partnered by Khaled Ahmed, Jahan won Category B; the participants’ standard of play was quite high throughout the entire competition.
After a 26/24 – 21/16 semi-final victory, Jahan and his partner proceeded to win the hotly-contested final to avail themselves of a trophy and some great prize money.
Our Club heartily congratulates Jahan for his international achievement; this reflects his serious regular training as well as his positive attitude to our sport.

Yesterday a number of our Club players took an active part in a friendly Doubles tournament played at De La Salle College.
They had a great time gauging their skills against opponents coming from other clubs; their final placing enabled them to secure some prizes.
Such participation is encouraged by Our Club since it ensures that the players concerned continue to improve their standard of play.

Recently, three of our Club members took part in the second division of the first tournament organised by Avvanza360.
The event was designated as a "Trinity Tournament" with participating teams being made up of three players. Each match consisted of four separate games: two Singles and two Doubles. Each one was played over the best of three sets up to 11 points, with no setting.
Though our players put up a good fight, they did not manage to win their division; but it was still a great experience overall for them.
Our Club encourages such participation since this improves the players' tactical awareness and match play strategies.

Our Club recently had the great pleasure of hosting a top Swedish player - Magnus Hoffman.
His first visit to our Club took place over 20 years ago, when Magnus was studying English in Malta. Since then, Magnus has visited Malta regularly; each time, he made it a point to play badminton with us.
During his latest visit, our players greatly enjoyed matching their skills against his and spending some quality social time together.
We are already looking forward to his next visit.
