Zurrieq Wolves Champs Netball

Zurrieq Wolves Champs is currently competing in Malta Netball's 1st Division League. The team also won the Super Cup 8 times.

The Rising Champs Netball Team (formerly known as Rational Champs, Fuego Champs and Luxol Champs) was established in the nineties and ever since has participated in the National League. Throughout the years, the team always included several experienced players, some of whom were also ex-Malta National Players. The team has won several honors which include, the National League, the Knockout Competition and the Super Cup. Whilst the team achieved its first triple in 2002-2003, the 2005/2006 season proved to be the most memorable in the team’s history when it achieved another triple and also succeeded in becoming the first local team to win an international tournament held in Malta. From 1998 to 2016, the team was crowned national league champions 10 times, and were runners up in 7 national leagues. It also won the knockout competition 9 times and finished runners up 2 times. Between the years 2002 and 2011 the team achieved 6 triple wins. The team also proceeded abroad three times to play against foreign teams. Their first experience was in Glasgow in 2007 where the team played a number of friendly matches against Scottish teams. Then in 2009 they ventured to the Isle of Man to participate in a Netball Club Festival organized by the Manx Netball Association. The team was the only foreign team who ever participated in this festival and out of the 15 participating teams, the team claimed an overall third place. The team’s third participation was in a Netfest Tournament held in Spain in 2010. The team has seen some changes since and had been working on building up its momentum once again which seems to be moving on the right track. With the influx of new young players in fact, in season 2018-2019, the team just missed the runners up position in the national league by one point, clenching this position in 2019-2020 and 2020-2021. The club has been rooting to enhance its performance and is aiming towards reaching its former glory. Starting season 2021/22, Rising Champs will also be competing in the U21 league with the newly built team, Young Champs U21. It is our intention to continue to strive to reach the peak once again in seasons to come.

It was such a pleasure representing Malta not only on court, but also sharing a little piece of our beautiful island with the teams we met along the way 🌞🌊

Throughout the tournament, we spoke with many of our competitors about the possibility of hosting a netball tournament in Malta someday.. and invited them all to come and experience our island for themselves! 🏐🇲🇹

It was especially lovely to hear that some of the players and teams had already visited Malta, had an amazing time and would love to return... hopefully in the near future, this time for netball 😁🏐☀️

We would absolutely love to welcome you all to Malta, show you our beautiful island and share the same amazing netball spirit with you here 🙌

The results speak for themselves but more importantly, we enjoyed every single moment together... on and off the court! ❤️ From the competition to the laughs, team spirit and memories made.. it was a trip to remember 🙌

🇪🇸 Spain Netball Tour 2026 – Here We Come! 🐺🧡💙

The countdown has officially begun! This September, Zurrieq Wolves Champs will be heading to Lloret del Mar, Spain for an exciting tour filled with competitive matches, unforgettable memories and new experiences.

This trip is more than just netball. It’s an opportunity to grow as a team, strengthen our bond on and off the court, learn from every game and continue developing together. Every challenge we face and every moment we share will help make us stronger players and an even stronger family.

✅ Such registration is crucial for the very existence of any sport organisation, as it grants them legal personality. While legal personality can also be obtained via the Malta Business Registry 🏛️, the MBR is bound by the same Act (CAP. 626) to request authorisation from the Authority for Integrity in Maltese Sport before registering any sport organisations.
⚠️ No Sport Clubs can attain such status prior to registration with AIMS.
