Last May, we donated Optimist training sails to the and the to support their young athletes.
Our commitment to the Malta Sailing Federation continues, and new donations are already on the horizon as we begin collaborating with five additional sailing schools and community programs.
We have also confirmed the donation of five Optimist training sails—one for each Maltese club—plus two racing sails to be awarded to the 2025 Maltese male and female champions.
At the same time, we are reclaiming old sails that have accompanied generations of young sailors and giving them a new life — putting them back into circulation so they can catch their second wind.

Sailing pushes people to compete.
Sailmakers know that better than anyone.
Malta Sail Factory and Sonica Sails , competition isn’t the finish line. After meeting during the Palermo–Montecarlo, we set out to do something different — to give old sails a second life.
More than 30 sails once headed for landfills have been pulled back from the waste stream. Each one carries wind and salt and soon, they’ll become something new.
Check the link below, some of them are already en route to our partners.

Hello Malta,
The Middle Sea Race is less than a week away.
Malta Sail Factory will mark the occasion at — where we’ll open our MSF Upcycling Point.
Another CALL FOR SAILORS:
crews, racers, weekend boaters,
anyone who knows the pull of the wind.
Join us Friday, October 17th
to celebrate what the sea gives —
and what we can give back.
Old sails will find new life.
Not to landfill, but to purpose.
Come by, share a drink,
listen to some music.
We’ll take care of the rest.

The Middle Sea Race always feels like a reunion after the summer season.
We get to see the faces behind the sails — friends, clients, and crews who’ve trusted us.
This year, we will be there with our partners — the people who share our belief: sailing is built on competition but works even better through collaboration!
You can see it, and even feel it, on a sail that once held the wind across the channel. When we repair or reuse sails, we are not just fixing cloth — we are keeping them from being thrown away in a landfill.
Working with old sails matters because it reminds us that performance and respect for materials can coexist. That craft still has a place even as we rush toward the new.
Just like at the Palermo–Montecarlo, we’ll be present on the docks — meeting the crews and sharing what we do to make sailing more sustainable. And to celebrate this shared vision, we’ll be hosting a party at to connect and exchange ideas about our program.
We’ll be there to show you how we can give sails their second wind.
See you in a couple of weeks

The Palermo–Montecarlo came to a close at .
For us at Malta Sail Factory and our partners, Monday marked a turning point: we had the chance to show sailors and pro racers what we’ve been working on.
Through the launch of the MSF Upcycling Points, we want to share a simple idea: sails still have a life ahead of them.
What matters most is that this message reaches everyone—from Sunday boaters to world champions.
More than a dozen sails were donated by various boats- and not only those racing in the regatta.
Among the crews, a special mention goes to () and (.cascino.01 )!
The commitment of this people shows the true strength of partnership: when we act together, change moves faster.
Speaking of partners: none of this would be possible without ours, who understand that protecting the sea is a shared responsibility. Together with , .it and we are shaping a culture.
This work is hands-on, and - as we will endlessly repeat - it’s just the beginning. We are working with what’s in front of us: finding new life in what was once considered done. Out here, nothing really ends. It just changes shape.
