🇬🇧 Sometimes the greatest wonders simply wait for you to slow down.
This cuttlefish didn't swim away. Instead, it stayed with us for a moment, watching us just as closely as we were watching it.
What's even more fascinating? Cuttlefish are colour-blind, yet they're among the greatest masters of camouflage in the animal kingdom.

🇬🇧 Some ships retire quietly. The MV Karwela started a second career instead, as Gozo's most photographed staircase. Built in 1957, sunk in 2006 to become an artificial reef, and still welcoming guests daily.
It's not an everyday dive. The stairs sit deep and you need the right moment for them. That's exactly why we love it: taking our guests down there when they're ready feels a bit like sharing a secret. This time with our friends from DSAC Manchester, who made it look easy.
🇩🇪 Manche Schiffe gehen still in Rente. Die MV Karwela hat stattdessen eine zweite Karriere gestartet, als meistfotografierte Treppe von Gozo. 1957 gebaut, 2006 als künstliches Riff versenkt, und Gäste empfängt sie noch immer täglich.
Ein Tauchgang für jeden Tag ist das nicht. Die Treppe liegt tief und man braucht den richtigen Moment dafür. Genau deshalb lieben wir sie: unsere Gäste dort hinunterzubringen, wenn sie bereit sind, fühlt sich ein bisschen an wie ein geteiltes Geheimnis. Diesmal mit unseren Freunden vom DSAC Manchester, die das ganz leicht aussehen ließen.

🇬🇧 No better bluffer on the reef. It lies there, grey and forgettable on the sand, until it feels your eyes on it and, in a heartbeat, unfurls two peacock wings in electric blue. The best part? Despite the name, it doesn't fly. Evolution gave it wings, and it chose to walk the seabed. The whole spectacle is just an elegant way of saying, "Back off."
🇩🇪 Keinen besseren Bluffer gibt es am Riff. Grau und unscheinbar liegt er im Sand, bis er deinen Blick spürt und im Nu zwei Pfauenflügel in leuchtendem Blau ausbreitet. Das Beste? Trotz seines Namens fliegt er nicht. Die Evolution schenkte ihm Flügel, und er wählte den Spaziergang über den Meeresboden. Das ganze Spektakel ist nur ein elegantes „Bleib weg.“

🇬🇧 They call it the fried egg jellyfish, but underwater it looks more like a small sun. Cotylorhiza tuberculata is one of the few Mediterranean jellyfish that's practically harmless to touch, and it powers itself off the algae it farms inside its own body, like a coral. One of those encounters that stays with you long after you surface.
🇩🇪 Man nennt sie Spiegeleiqualle, unter Wasser wirkt sie eher wie eine kleine Sonne. Cotylorhiza tuberculata ist eine der wenigen Mittelmeerquallen, deren Berührung nahezu harmlos ist, und sie versorgt sich mit Energie aus Algen, die sie im eigenen Körper kultiviert - wie eine Koralle. Eine dieser Begegnungen, die lange nach dem Auftauchen bleiben.
