The Maltese Olympic Committee President Mr Julian Pace Bonello and Secretary General Mr Joseph Cassar recently welcomed Lorraine Lafrenière, President, and Dr. Ladislav Petrovic, Secretary General of the International Council for Coaching Excellence (ICCE), alongside their Malta representative Dr. Renzo Kerr-Cumbo – President of the Malta Sport Coaches Association for a productive discussion on the importance of coaching qualifications and the vital role coaches play in promoting safe, ethical, and values-driven sport.

Coach Education Opportunity with Malta Triathlon Federation

Malta Triathlon Federation will be hosting a world triathlon level 1 coaching course organised in Malta. The course will be organised in a Hybrid Format to facilitate the participants.

The schedule of the course is the following
* Online Period - 5 Consecutive weeks with the following online Zoom sessions every week:
* Facilitator Open Hours (60min) on Thursdays (starting from 21 May, ending on 18 June) @18:00 CET
* Seminars (90min) on Saturdays (starting from 23 May, ending on 20 June) @10:00 CET
* Face-to-face Period:
25-26 June (THU-FRI) afternoon & evening
27-28 June (all day)

The deadline to apply for the course is Friday 1st May 2026 @ noon

Fee for the course is €300 which to be transferred to the Malta Triathlon Federation account

The Malta Sport Coaches Association will like to congratulate our friends in Romania in their achievement in establishing the National Association of Romanian Coaches (ANAR) due to be formalised on the 11th December.

A lot of time, effort and hard work paying off in Romania for the improvement of coaches nationwide.

We are proud to announce that we have two board members currently representing the MSCA at the 15th Global Coach Conference in Athens.

Renzo Kerr-Cumbo and Lara Buttigieg are present during the 4 day conference running from Thursday 20th until Sunday 23rd which will see many topics discussed by leading professionals.

Developments in Coaching, Ethics, LTAD, High Performance Coaching, Technology in Coaching, Coaching in Higher Education and many more interesting and world leading discussions, presentations and workshops are being delivered during these few days.

Renzo will sit alongside some fellow coaching association board members to discuss, Collective Power: Addressing Challenges of Coaches Associations on Saturday afternoon.
