Our Story
We are a couple of close friends who live on the ocean and share a passion for life and the planet. In our adventures exploring and diving remote reefs and countries, we saw spots of lush vibrant ocean life but also a devastating amount of marine pollution and reef degradation.
This brand was born out of a desire to move and spread the message of the preservation and betterment of our oceans, hence "acting bleu". We wholeheartedly support the movement against single-use plastics, one of the ocean's greatest enemies. The material itself has proven to be a mighty invention that has made our lives better in many ways. It is not plastic but the nonchalant reliance we have developed on it collectively that is killing the planet. Bits of the billions of plastics suspended in the blue wash up on our beaches, animals mistakenly eat or are wounded by this man-made debris, some of which indirectly flow through to the food we consume. The coffee and juice cups we throw, the chemicals in our skin products, the microfibers in our fabrics, ultimately end up back in our bodies. Such is the cycle of life and nature; the earth and us are bleeding plastic because we have not cared for the lands and waters that feed and nourish us.
We could potentially stop increasing the huge amount of plastic waste that ends up in landfills and the Great Pacific Garbage Patch simply by making mindful choices in our daily lives. The straws, toothbrushes, bottles, cutlery and various disposable plastic items that we take for granted are hurting our planet, its wildlife, and us. Much can be done on all our parts in being aware and thoughtful of our impact on our environment. In checking that the sunscreen we use is not harmful to reefs, that the fish or meat we take for granted is ethically and sustainably sourced, that the manner in which we are consuming does not contribute to unnecessary waste. With some creative tweaking, repurposing could effectively give our clothes, devices, furniture, or almost anything, a new lease from its "single-use" life.
Become an eco-warrior and join us in the movement against single-use plastics. We can only hope that through this effort many will be moved to adopt an eco-conscious mindset to make these small underrated lifestyle choices, that collectively contribute so significantly toward regenerating and preserving our wonderful planet and its oceans.
