To breathe or not to breathe is not the question. It is to feel.” — Guillaume Néry

Sharing some pics of this mini freedive this early morning:
Because it’s been like one of those quiet gifts from the ocean — the deep blue and one breath. Out of nowhere, a lone eagle ray appeared and glided straight towards me, curious and calm, as if he wanted to check me out. For a few suspended seconds, we shared a tiny underwater dance before he drifted back to the sand looking for snacks. Soon after, two others joined the show.
These moments always remind me why I return to the ocean again and again. I’m not escaping life down there — I’m connecting to it. 🧘♀️
Beneath the surface, everything becomes simple, real, and beautifully present. Just light, silence and one breath… and the privilege of sharing space with wild souls- light and free.

💦 It's International Water Safety Day, so let’s make a splash to be water-smart! 🌊 Whether you're a beginner or honing your skills, let's celebrate the joy of swimming while emphasizing water safety! 🏊♂👉 Here are some smart tips:
1. It all begins with learning to swim
2. Swim near a lifeguard or stay in their vision
3. Never swim alone
4. Look before you leap into the pool
5. Follow the rules of the pools and instructions given by lifeguards
6. Think, so you do not sink. If you are in trouble, floating or treading will help you think
7. Reach or throw an object to help someone in the water to safety, never go in the water to help someone.
8. Learn water safety steps!

✨
Yesterday, I felt truly touched by a thoughtful birthday gift from the parent of one of my former Science/Biology students. Even after leaving the country, they still keep in touch and continue to follow my journey.
It means so much to know that beyond teaching Science and Biology, some people have seen and appreciated me for who I am as a water person also.
Moments like these remind me that teaching is not only about lessons, exams, or classrooms — it is also about the connections and impact we leave in each other’s lives.
My heart is full of gratitude. 💛

Yesterday’s open water swim was honestly one of the toughest I’ve done. For about three-quarters of the route, we were fighting against the current — one stroke forward, barely moving, waves splashing, swallowing water… a real test of endurance and mental strength.
These conditions forced me to let go of time and focus on staying patient, consistent, and simply not giving up — trusting that I’d eventually reach the destination.
There were also some beautiful moments swimming over stunning table coral, with tiny juvenile fish hiding below. Hard to fully appreciate while battling the current, but still special to witness.
The best part was turning the corner into Blue Bay, with the current finally behind us pushing us home. It felt like surfing through the water — such a rewarding finish.
Big thanks to coach Nicholas from RLSS for organising this swim. A great challenge for both endurance and mindset.
