Football Club Shire (FC Shire)
Established: 2017
Football Club Shire (FC Shire) is a professional football club based in Lilongwe, Area 49, Shire Area. The club was founded in 2017 by Apostle Vitumbiko Mkandawire, the Founder and President of Time for Victory International Ministries.
Time for Victory International Ministries is a Christian ministry operating in Malawi and across Africa, and extending beyond the continent to Europe, America, and Asia. The ministry’s core purpose is to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ, unite the body of Christ, and consolidate the message of the cross for salvation and the fulfillment of the divine purpose God has given humanity.
While the ministry serves all people, it places special emphasis on the youth. As part of this mission, Apostle Vitumbiko Mkandawire strategically uses sports—particularly football—as a tool to engage young people. FC Shire was therefore established as a platform where youth can actively participate in football while being nurtured with the message of the Gospel. Through this approach, players are not only developed as athletes but are also empowered to become ambassadors of the Gospel among their peers.
Football is a powerful unifying force, and FC Shire leverages this strength to bring young people together, instill discipline, teamwork, and purpose, and create opportunities for both personal and spiritual growth. This model has proven effective in keeping youth positively engaged and positioned to scale up both in sport and in life.
Beyond football performance, FC Shire directly supports over 80 youths, guiding them toward purpose and destiny. In addition, the club indirectly supports up to 480 families through employment opportunities and small business activities generated around the club’s operations. Unlike earlier perceptions in Africa where football was often viewed as a distraction from destiny, FC Shire stands as a character-oriented club that helps young people discover purpose, discipline, and direction. Through various support programmes, the club expresses the true love of God in practical ways, contributing to holistic youth development.
Currently, FC Shire is competing under the Central Region Football Association (CRFA) in the Premier Division, where the club is presently placed third on the table. We trust God for grace and strength to finish the season in first position, and the momentum, commitment, and support surrounding the team strongly point in that direction.
We believe this club profile will help FC Shire engage the community more effectively, strengthen partnerships, and continue using football as a vehicle for youth development, unity, faith, and positive social transformation.
