BLUE EAGLES SOAR TO CONVINCING WIN, CLOSE GAP AT THE TOP

Blue Eagles are flying high in the FDH Bank Netball Premier League 2026-27 season after powering past KB Lioness 58-46 at CIVO Netball Court in Lilongwe on Saturday, 5 September 2026.

The victory keeps the Eagles firmly in the hunt at second position of a league that has showcased intense competitiveness as the first round edges closer to conclusion.

Blue Eagles came out firing, taking the opening quarter 13-10. KB Lioness responded in the second quarter, edging it 13-12, but the Eagles raised the tempo after the break.

A strong 13-8 third quarter restored their control before Blue Eagles finished the job in style, winning the final quarter 18-13 to seal a convincing 58-46 victory.

The result takes Blue Eagles to 16 points from nine games.

With the first round drawing towards its conclusion, the race at the top is heating up, and every point is becoming increasingly valuable.

Sunday 6th September could bring another blockbuster.

Blue Eagles and Vanessa Sisters are expected to face off at Civo Netball Court, in what promises to be another thrilling encounter as the Eagles look to close the gap and strengthen their push for the top spot.

Defending champions Blue Eagles Netball Club were forced to dig deep as city rivals Civonets held them to a thrilling 44-44 draw in a high-intensity Week 5 clash of the 2026 FDH Netball Premier League at Civo Netball Court on Sunday.

Civonets came out firing and controlled the game from the opening quarter, frustrating the champions with a relentless display.

The home side edged the first quarter 12-10 before carrying their momentum into the second, leading 23-21 at halftime. Civonets then turned up the pressure in the third quarter, opening a four-goal cushion at 34-30.

But just when Civonets appeared destined for maximum points, Blue Eagles produced a late fightback.

The champions held their nerve in the dying minutes of the fourth quarter, clawing their way back to level the scores 44-44 and sn**ch a valuable point from their city rivals.

The result marks Blue Eagles' second draw of the season, following their draw against Kukoma Diamonds in the opening week at Silver Stadium Netball Court.

For Civonets, it was a spirited performance against the defending champions, but the failure to close out the match will leave the home side wondering what might have been.
