The draw for the 2027 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations ( Afcon) qualifiers will take place on May 19, 2026.

The Confederation of African Football ( Caf) announced on its official website today.

Caf said 48 teams including Malawi will be divided into 12 groups of four teams each ahead of the qualifiers.

Top two teams from each group will qualify for the next year's finals to be staged in Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya.

The qualifiers will be played during the three Fifa International Window from September until March next year.

The Flames last qualified for the Afcon finals in 2021 in Cameroon. No foreign coach has guided the Flames to the Afcon finals.

Late Henry Moyo was the first Malawian coach to guide the team to Afcon finals in 1984 before Kinnah Phiri and Meke Mwase in 2010 and 2021, respectively.
