Sand Tilefish: this is a fish that I probably get asked to ID the most…you can usually find them off to the sides of the reef line or at the beginning before a reef starts…they like to build tunnels in the sand/coral rubble…when you get near them they will dart into their tunnel…this one in my video below did not seem to care of my presence as I was approaching it…i also learned that the black spots you see sometimes on these fish is called Black spot syndrome caused by a parasitic infection also called Black Ich…I took this video at the beginning of Paradise reef…immediately after this we had an Eagle Ray make a flyby but I was too far to get video of it…have a great day everyone and I hope to dive with you soon at Endless Blue Scuba!

There’s a lot competing for your attention underwater — a turtle cruising past, something hiding under the reef, your buddy frantically pointing at something you just gotta see...

Getting caught up in the dive is part of the fun, but building good habits means you can enjoy all of it without losing track of the important stuff.

Dive smart. Dive well. Dive Endless Blue.

Some reef residents are so familiar that we stop really looking at them. The Spotfin Butterflyfish is one of those beautiful little Cozumel regulars that deserves a second look — because there’s more going on here than you might expect.

So, how well do you know this familiar face?

“Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence”
- Vince Lombardi.

This is a quote that's always stayed with me, and is how I am treating the service we provide at Endless Blue Scuba.

My father always taught me — never hide anything and be very transparent. I could have taken the money that I received in an inheritance, which would have allowed Silvia and I to be comfortable and not have to work so hard… but instead, I took that money, and with the help of some investors, we put it into our boat.

It's been on my mind to do this for many years. This labor of love was not on a whim… Just like my Silvia Rivera was born to be a singer, I knew I was born to take two paths in life. One was as a cowboy, on a the big ranches, the other was to work as a diver in the ocean. My investors and I have spent a little over $50,000usd in the past 3 months to make this second path really fulfill it's potential.

I am so thankful that they believe in me. While I was always working hard for other people, I have always known that for me to be truly happy I had to work for myself (Silvia, will be taking the same steps very soon).

Now I can happily say, the only people I will be working hard for now are you our friends/divers.

I estimate that our dive boat Xeluna will be finished in about 3 weeks. We are currently making modifications to the boat to make your trip to Cozumel the best possible.

And a little update on Silvia: She will be singing in her own, at a new venue starting in October. She's planning a more expanded music list of Latin and English music. What better way to spend time together, than with friends? Starting your day diving and then in the evening, eating good food and listening to my sweet Silvia sing!

Let’s make beautiful memories together my friends… Silvia and I hope to see you soon!

I took this photo of Tube sponges on Palancar Gardens.

Did you know Cozumel doesn't keep every dive site open all year?

Throughout the year, sections of the Marine Park are temporarily closed on a rotating schedule. These planned closures give coral reefs a chance to recover, helping protect the incredible underwater world that draws divers here from around the globe.

It's a simple idea with a big impact — and one of the many ways Cozumel works to preserve its reefs for future generations 🪸
