Yaaaaa……. In Kendo, kiai (気合) is the powerful, guttural shout used to express spirit, determination, and focus during an attack, essential for achieving ki-ken-tai-ichi (unity of spirit, sword, and body). It is not just a noise, but a release of energy from the diaphragm, used to intimidate opponents and solidify, a strike.
