Malaysia Open Reflections & PiDG–GMK Course Sustainability 🇲🇾

The Malaysia Open has just concluded — and we’d love to hear your reflections on playing at our two home courses: PiDG and GMK!

Upgrades That Made a Difference

PiDG: Players enjoyed the upgraded 18B (64) Rainbow layout — featuring additional new baskets, full-course concrete tee pads, tee signages, and directional signs.

GMK: For the first time ever, players experienced a full 18-hole layout with brand-new baskets, directional signage, and concrete tee pads.

Both courses are now in their best condition ever — clean, well-maintained, and ready to welcome players from across Malaysia and beyond.

This success is the result of the hard work and dedication of our members, community, and the park management.

Built by the Community, for the Community

These courses are 100% self-funded — built bare-handed by PiDG members with pride, sweat, and love for the game.

Every tee pad, every sign, every rainbow touch — from the iconic tire logo to the “I ❤️ PiDG” signage — represents our spirit of unity.

To maintain this level and continue improving, PiDG members contribute monthly to the course upkeep fund. But as we know, sustainability takes more than passion — it takes a plan.

That’s why we’re introducing:

Sponsor’s Logo Banner Strip – RM100 per basket (6 months) on both PiDG & GMK Courses.

These sponsorships allow individuals, clubs, and businesses to leave their mark while directly supporting course maintenance and development.

Extra funds will also go toward potential new course development and future upgrades — ensuring Malaysia’s disc golf continues to grow stronger every year!

Be Part of Malaysia’s Disc Golf Legacy

Together, let’s keep PiDG and GMK shining as Malaysia’s premier disc golf destinations — and put Johor Bahru proudly on the world disc golf map!

Leave your mark where every putt lands!

PiDG on Fire — 1,300 Rounds Within Reach!

Since we realised the importance of logging our rounds on UDisc from 20th September, the PiDG community has responded with unstoppable energy and support. In just two short weeks, we’ve grown from 2 rounds to 81 rounds a week — and the numbers keep climbing.
Last week alone, PiDG averaged 11.6 rounds per day, our highest pace yet.
At this momentum, we are now on track to record around 1,300 rounds by the end of 2025 — in just over 100 days from last September!

This is an incredible achievement for a community-built course and a powerful statement of what PiDG represents: passion, teamwork, and commitment to growing disc golf in Malaysia.

Our goal is clear:
Record every single round on UDisc
Sustain the momentum for the next 100+ days
Cement Pelangi Indah Disc Golf (PiDG) as Malaysia’s most active and vibrant disc golf community

Let’s keep this fire burning and show Malaysia — and the world — what PiDG is all about!

James Lai’s 1041-Rated Masterclass Headlines Historic Johor Open 2025
PDGA Sanctioned · C-Tier

The inaugural PDGA-sanctioned Johor Open Disc Golf 2025 concluded with fireworks in the MPO division as James Lai delivered a truly unforgettable performance , highlighted by a final round rated 1041, the highest ever recorded on Malaysian soil.
Playing across two of Johor’s finest disc golf venues , the well-established Pelangi Indah Disc Golf Course (PiDG) and the up-and-coming GMK Disc Golf Course — the 3-round, 2-day tournament marked a major step forward for competitive disc golf in Malaysia.

After two solid rounds (61, 58), James Lai exploded in the final round at GMK Disc Golf course with a flawless, aggressive 45 , a performance rated at 1041 by the PDGA, and a 3 rounds total under par of -22 setting a national benchmark for competitive excellence. The round featured pinpoint drives, fearless putting, and strategic course control rarely seen in Malaysia. His 13 under par in the final is a new GMK Course record.

🇲🇾 Malaysia’s “Top Four” Unite – A First in PDGA History

For the first time ever, all of Malaysia’s “Top Four” MPO players ,James Lai, Redha Fahmi, Sean Raj, and Jean Poignee, competed together in the same PDGA-sanctioned tournament on home soil, a long-anticipated showdown finally realized at Johor Open 2025.

• Redha Fahmi Radzuan returned to PDGA play after a 5-year hiatus and quickly reminded everyone of his class, tying for second with Jean-Daniel and Wesley.
• Sean Raj remained consistently sharp, missing the podium by just one stroke.
• Jean Poignee, the field’s highest-rated player, was edged out in the final round but played strong throughout.

This win comes hot on the heels of James Lai recent gold medal at the World Masters Games 2025 in Taipei, reinforcing his status as Malaysia’s top MPO player. He finished in the podiums at the Singapore Slings 2025 .
His rise to form began with a breakthrough international win at the Chiang Mai Godfather Tournament in 2022, making this latest triumph a powerful full-circle moment.
