Things you Shouldn't do on your skin.

Using toothpaste on a pimple is a very old-school home remedy, but dermatologists generally don’t recommend it. Here’s why:

Toothpaste often contains ingredients like baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, menthol, or alcohol that can dry out a pimple quickly.

This drying effect may shrink the pimple temporarily.

Why It’s Not a Good Idea

🚫 Irritation risk – Toothpaste isn’t made for skin; it can cause redness, peeling, or burning.
🚫 Worsening acne – The harsh ingredients can disrupt your skin barrier and trigger more breakouts.
🚫 Dark spots & scarring – Irritation may lead to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, especially in medium to darker skin tones.

Better Alternatives

✔️ Benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid spot treatments – made for acne, safe for skin.
✔️ Sulfur-based spot treatments – reduces oil and bacteria.
✔️ Ice compress – helps with swelling and redness.

👉 So, while toothpaste might dry out a pimple in a pinch, it’s more likely to cause irritation or long-term marks.
