BlackWater shorthanded with a few players recovering from injuries do not have enough firepower to play against the strong REX team. REX players has good fundamentals able to play inside, outside and run the fastbreak effectively. On the other hand BlackWater short of some main players were just unable to even the game. Injuries and commitment issues are part of the game. Nevertheless we keep on going.

BlackWater (79) vs (88) Speedhunter | Hoops Station Basketball League 2022 | Record 4-1

Speedhunter is a semi pro team which plays like one as well. They started with full court man to man press. It was a fast paced game where both teams keep on attacking. BlackWater did not do not particularly bad on offense however we are unable to stop the fire power of Speedhunter. It's pretty tough to beat a team who scores as high as 30 per quarter. The game was tied with 6 minutes left however with Oleg sidelined due to injury we just doesn't have enough fuel to close the game.

BlackWater (63) vs (51) TARUC | Hoops Station Basketball League 2022 | Record 4-0

TARUC started the game with full court man to man pressure defense. The strategy caused some turnovers and uncharacteristic plays by BlackWater. Adjusting to this we are able to make a comeback. Attacking the basket is the key to breaking the defense. It also caused TARUC to be in foul trouble. We kept going to the line and widening our lead till the end. TARUC is a young team with good potential. We wish them all the best.

BlackWater (76) vs (66) Playmaker | Hoops Station Basketball League 2022 | Record 3-0

BlackWater faced a zone defense by Playmaker and had a rough start. We have trouble scoring as they protected the basket well. Meanwhile Playmaker has some good individual offensive players and they took our players back to school. Seeing that we are unable to contain them individually so we switched to zone defense in the second quarter. The strategy worked as we are able to contain them and force some easy fast break opportunities. With size advantages we are able to dominate them in the paint and controlled the boards. Last quarter showed some rally from Playmaker with three 3s made however we are able to protect the lead until the end.

BlackWater (92) - (82) Young Gunnas | HOOPS Station Basketball League | Record: 2-0 🏀

The game started pretty slow with both teams just back from Hari Raya break. First quarter was tied at 19 a piece. Second quarter we played better defense which created some easy fastbreak buckets which resulted in a 9 point half time lead. Second half we are able to maintain a quite comfortable lead until the end. Starting five are able to dominate however second five is struggling to hold the lead. Regardless it takes the whole team to finish the job. Each and every individual needs to contribute to the team.

BlackWater is a new kid on the block meanwhile EX-UM is an established old dog's team. Talent wise favors BLW while team chemistry favors XUM. Credits should be given to a new team which can outperform a more established team. Usual issue with new teams are they may rely more on individual skills however BLW players are willing to share the ball which is a good trait. The game was very competitive and physical from the tip off. EX-UM showed their experience by getting an early 6 points lead however BLW managed to even the score at halftime. EX-UM plays with a lot of physical contacts but probably too much that puts them in foul trouble and even been penalized with two tech fouls. The team with younger legs usually controls the second half and BLW managed to maintain their four to six points lead. EX-UM attempted to close the gap but with foul troubles and in desperation the game slowly slips away from them. First game we got a satisfactory outcome. Determination and time will make us better.
