Brand Malaysia is 57. It is perhaps one of the lowest points emotionally in our history. Looking forward, lets use this day to reflect how as citizens, we can help lift the country.

Echoes of Kennedy's "ask not what the country can do for you" speech is resonating deeply. This is the time to engage the power of the individual as Malaysians to rise up and make a difference where you can in some small or big way.

Over the last few months, I have seen the seeds of regeneration and rejuvenation being sown by individuals through organisations such as Think City (http://www.thinkcity.com.my/) and MaGIC (http://www.mymagic.com.my/). Look around us and you will see countless nameless individuals striving to do the same engaging on a purely community level. Signs such as these, are often signals of an impending rebirth.

This is a call to all Malaysian and those who call Malaysia home to rise up and commit to driving change that will make a positive difference to Malaysians. To those already on the path, I salute you. Kami Anak Malaysia. Bersatu demi Malaysia. Selamat Hari Merdeka.

How can organisations become more lean. Some do it via watching every dime it spends and everything becomes about cutting costs. Lean is about empowerment, encouraging innovation, building a shared purpose and energising your people to make you money by working more effectively. Coupled with a great brand strategy, I have seen this do amazing things to actively change organisations for the better. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lUi-hnHo8ZI&feature=youtu.be
