We did 'The Loop', (for some) again - a 200km loop through Genting Sempah, Bentong, Fraser's Hill, KKB & Ulu Yam.
Sempah is a regular weekend route for most riders, with just a 13km climb. With the cool breeze, it's quite a breeze. So to add a 40km roll to Bentong after Sempah is just nice for a regular rider. In Bentong, you are also rewarded with succulent baked pork noodles (wantan mee) & decent morning coffee. And around people who are warm & graceful (a rear environment in the bustling city)
The challenge basically starts with a 20km consistent climb up Fraser's Hill after a 20km roll from Bentong. At the top of Fraser's, you have a choice of pursuing the peak - which is another 8km of a steep climb - or you take the more rejoicing path of a descend.
30km of descend & rolling hills after the climb. Subsequently, you switch from climbing challenges to enduring the scorching mid afternoon sun for the next 70 odd km. Its so bad it f***s with your mind. Here you find yourself consistently scouting for coconut water & spraying precious water over your head to cool down your system.
When you get a hang of the heat & pedaling on high gear for hours, the route f***s your momentum up again. The final 10km comes with a 5km climb which culminates in a 750m climb up (what people term) 'The Wall'. And then you graduate & warm down through 3km of traffic populated streets to Batu Caves, the rollout point. You done.
The Loop - by far, what we find is, the most challenging 1 day route in the Klang Valley.
